Hi all,

does anyone know if any models or country variants have it so that the time of day clock is in 24hour mode rather than AM/PM mode?

it really bugs me :( would love to swap it out

I wish they were in the 24 hour format as that is what I use. Have never seen any that way.

Since I just primarily ride my bike outside I find the AM/PM symbols to be a little unecessary, have a 24hr clock, nice, but not high on the wish list.

Yep, that is what he is talking about.

LOL I'm glad you cleared that up because I really thought he was talking about punch-in/punch-out time clock. "See you tomorrow, Ralph."

I'd also much prefer the 24 hour mode.

Me too. I prefer military time but most clocks use International/24-hour time.

LOL Most of us who live in a 12-On/12-off light cycle (your lumens may vary) are in the same boat. The am-pm symbols make setting the clock a drag. I like military time because I've used it or 24-Hour time a lot over the years and it just looks cool to me.

What I was thinking is just buy a stick on clock that has the 24 hour mode and stick it to your black plastic near your dashboard.

I did this on one of my old bikes and it looked almost factory. Huge digits and it had the 12/24 option (no mil time). It got ripped off literally and it was never replaced. It had a button for a light but it wasn't bright enough to see in ambient moon or street light.

Maybe somebody here will do an install with pics of an illuminated clock and we can have a new Farkle Frenzy! During the day I have to use my wristwatch when I need to know the time as the time LCD is washed out. More so with a tinted visor and sunglasses.

What's the difference? Clock face with 12 numbers vs. 24 numbers?

Never a chance to mix up AM and PM for one.

Never been real problem for me. I work at a 3 shift 24 hour company.

We'er talking digital clocks in this instance. It's a really small difference that most people wouldn't care about. International/24-Hour time would be shown as 17:00 and military time would be 1700. Like I said a really small difference.

At this point I'm happy that the Honda clock doesn't use a leading 0 for AM time (1:00-9:00 AM). Or is that just a US thing?

I see. A digital clock.

I think the leading "0" is a military time thing.

I don't think it's just a military thing. I'm guessing that a lot of European and possibly Asian notation uses leading zeros. They're needed for 24-hour time of any flavor but I see them in 12-hour clock apps from other countries all the time like 09:00am.

It could also be bad programming. I haven't seen digital clocks built for countries outside the US. Maybe somebody here as eyes-on experience with them.

Not just military, it is standard practice in aviation and most scientific fields to write time in 24 hour notation, and always use 4 figures when doing so.

The next time I get into the dash instrument panel I'll take a look at the clock design structure.. If its a standard design that uses a remote real time clock, I'll look up the IC info and see if it can be converted to readout 24hr time. Most IC chips can be programmed to do both..
Or if someone already has the back of the instrument panel apart. send me a detail picture of the electronics in the clock area.
