Helmets Tinted vs Mirrored, Heat

I have a mirrored rainbow and a mirrored gold one for my HJC Symax II, and the gold one causes too much internal reflection of your face. It seems to be a tad bit darker tinted than the rainbow. The rainbow is bordering on annoying too, but I like it a lot better. I haven't given the clear one a serious try, but a plain light tint would be my preference. I wear sunglasses with driving lenses (bifocals). The one thing I did to improve comfort level was to install one of those static cling dark strips just above eye level as a "peak" so direct sun does not hit my eyes. If it gets a little warm, I just crack the visor open a notch or two and most of the time I have it cracked one notch anyway.

I have my answer now. I rode to Daytona (about 15 miles) with my clear shield. Bought a dark tint (light tint was almost clear). Holy Cow I have air conditioning now. :D

Only thing I am going to add here is DO NOT waste your money on a mirrored shield if you own a Suomy helmet; mine was ruined the first time I lightly cleaned it. They seem to have a notoriously delicate mirror finish.

Is it easy to switch shields on a helmet?

Some are some aren't. Depends on the model. Check that out when you're out comparing.

My HJC blue reflective is pretty easy to scratch. It's fairly obvious looking thru it as it's a coating as opposed to a tint thruout the plastic.
