Tool Kit Recommendations

STKY

I discovered after recently buying my 07 ST1300 that its tool kit is MIA. I know I could order one from Honda, although I haven't priced one yet.

I expect, however, that there are better alternatives available.

I was wondering if anyone here has some recommendations. I'd prefer that the kit fits into the tool kit space under the rear seat.

These two look interesting.

Search the site. I know there are a few posts listing the specific sizes needed to make a very complete kit skipping the sockets and hex keys you don't need to lug around.

You could buy the honda one but it's pretty cheesey. For the last coupla years the st1300 tool kit is only the 5mm hex key and the mystery pc of foam.

Some of the "phillips" screws round the air box are soft. JAS (japenese spec) crosspoint screwdrivers are reported to work better than phillips spec screwdrivers.
Some folks have swapped them out for socket heads.

As long as I'm spending your money LOL. Its a good idea to pick up a tire plug kit and small 12v compressor like the Slime one.

Also since your new? to the ST make sure you have a spare key on you. You'll need it if you ever need a jump.

Maybe I've been lucky in my travels but the only tools I've needed so far were those needed to plug a rear tire a few times. I've put together a tool roll but it seems to alway be out growing the roll. So most of the time the repair tools for other than tire repair stay at home.

If you don't already have a tool set for home, I'd say start there. If you want to take a few of them with you buy a tool roll and store them in one of the side bags. Tools can get heavy so I don't recommend storing them in a topbox.

Cruz seems to make some good tool sets from what I've seen. For home I prefer Craftsman but Harbor Freight has supplied a few tools along the way.

8, 10, 12, 14, 19mm wrenches, ?? for front axle, 27mm? for rear axle, JIS/philips and slotted (I have Stanley 6-in-1) screwdriver(s), "Fitzemall" (Cresent) wrench, small vise grips, small wire cutters, and a credit card should cover most of it.

If yer BIG on tools, check out Ron Ayers list from Iron Butt site.

That's exactly what my bike has. I figured the previous owner had kept the rest of it.

I did a little research today - I think I'm just going to put a few odd and ends in the pouch and call it done. I have a lot of tools.

Thanks for the inputs.

Yeah ,my new this year 07 ST came the same way ,no tools, just pouch foam and allen for Tupperware ! Had salesman check and all ST,s came that way . Only tool worth having out of the kit was 16.5 mm spark plug socket ,which I ordered for about $ 12.00 !
