Troubleshooting Autocom.

I got my Autocom pro-duo (kit 300) up and connected to my GPS this weekend and never knew helmet audio could sound so rich! So I am very pleased for that.

My big issue is I am trying to use the 2-way capability and one of the interfaces is giving me trouble.

Problem A: Aux-1 claims it is a 4-pole socket with one powered pole. It also states to always use 4-pole plug. OK, whenever I use a 4-pole plug in this socket it mutes everything and I hear nothing.

Problem B: So say I decide to skip Aux-1, what other interfaces can be used with a cell phone for 2-way communication? My guess is 2, 4 and 5? ( I would like to avoid using 5 because the connector cables for it are too expensive right now.) If so, can I just plug a 4-pole male to 4-pole male into Aux-2 and my smart phone to make calls?

I did get a Zumo for Christmas, I have the zumo going through the autocom and into my helmet. I bought the autocom used before I got the zumo. I am trying to use the autocom to get both the zumo and the phone piped into the helmet. Am I going about it all wrong?

Are you using one of their 4-poled phone connector cables? I have been using mine for years and no problems...but I bought it from them for my type of cell phone.

My kit came with a 4 pole 3.5mm to 3-pole 2.5mm so I plugged the large end into the autocom and get dead silence. Its like the cable keys the mic and mutes all other inputs.

I can try him after a little more research.

Mike, it needs to be a cable made for your particular "type" of phone, otherwise it won't work.

Look on their site and see what cables are there for your phone. Yeah, it might be more $$$, but it is great when it works!

+1 this is by far the most common configuration I've read about and seems to work best.

If your phone is not Bluetooth then as Bob stated get the cable from Autocom that is built for your phone. The cable that is provided is more than likely a generic audio cable.

There is some problems with the Autocom Systems and using the Zumo as a Bluetooth adapter. They sell a special cable for that but it does not works. I have bought 3 of them including the current one and still have the same problem. What happens is that you can hear your cell phone over the system, but it won't carry the mic stuff so people can not hear you talk. What I ended up doing is just plugging in the Zumo directly to the autocom and then use the Autocom Bluetooth adapter for the phone. That allows me to have my tunes and talk on the phone.

zumo 500 and 550 with autocom super pro avi music overrides to work correctly with a phone would need to do the following;

1. Bluetooth phone to zumo.
2. Zumo 3.5 audio output to port 2 or 3 make sure you have an isolator on this line.(this will be for music and gps audio only).
3. Zumo linked with Autocom blue tooth attached to port 1. This is for phone audio and transmit only. (note this port can be set for either powered or non powered depending upon which autocom bluetooth is purchased. New ones are 12 volt and should be connected to 12 volt power supply, old ones are a lower voltage that is availlable inside the super pro avi via 4 pin plug. Power must be activated at this port for this type. Port 1 is not stereo so you must use the correct plug for phone use if you are directly pluging into your phone. There are other bluetooth connectors availlable but check with an autocom dealer on there use with this setup.

End result is all phone actions come onto the zumo screen so you can leave your phone elsewhere. Also when a call is made or recieved the autocom will give priority to the phone only. With out this type of connection the autocom will cut the audio when you talk on the phone and you will not hear audio properly.

Note: On the zumo you must select the phone audio out via bluetooth only. I am not sure of the new 600 and 650 but I believe it is the same.

The zumo is capable of 2 bluetooth connections at the same time. Phone to zumo , and zumo to autocom. For this to work you must have the audio out to phone only selected properly on the zumo. Also zumo linked properly to the autocom bluetooth Modual. You then do not need the special connector or only a 3.5 audio out with isolator to port 2 or 3. See my post in this thread. I have used this for a few years and it works perfectly.
