I've been scouring this website for hours looking and need help. For some reason my new/fast computer is EXTREMELY slow on this site. When I try to go click back to search further, it closes the website and I must log in and start all over.
I'm looking for instructions on Tupperware removal and where to start along with tank removal. The reason being I installed my new Heli-Risers gen 3. Problem is cable binding when attempting to turn the bars to full left. I want to pull the plastics to see if I can get some more slack. I believe the problem is with the switchbox that was installed by the PO. I guess he had no thoughts of adding risers or leaving extra slack when installing.
TIA

Re: Tubberware removal

Hi and welcome.
I'm not the best help, sorry, as it's been about 10 years since I last dis-assembled the ST1100 bodywork, but...
I remember there being no real big issues or tricks. Just be slow and careful. I remember starting with the two grey glove-box panels. They have screws under the glove box covers and little circular tabs that cover other fasteners. Use a slotted screwdriver to lever off the circular cover. If you think you took all the fasteners off and a piece isn't coming free, don't force it keep looking for the missed screw. I remember some times a single screw is used to hold two or three pieces and there's a surprise tab from a grey sticking under a colored fairing piece making you remove a screw you didn't think was needed.

Anyway, I'm sure more people with clearer memories will chime in if you are still having issues. Seem to be a great group here (I'm kinda new too).

Re: Tubberware removal

Here is a very handy link for sheets to print out and put each fastener on as you remove them to aid in putting it all back together.

This link is to ST1300 specific items you will find handy to start your searching for questions. I found the tupperware sheets in the Service sub forum.

Start at the bottom of the bike and work up. There are more screws and parts that will need to come off than the sheets show, like the mirror covers and 2 screws holding the glove boxes at the front under the lids.

The service manual is very helpful if you want to tackle more.

Thanks guys. Kevin,
I appreciate the links... good stuff!
I found a well illustrated YouTube video, along with the fantastic fastener link are priceless and have allowed me to tackle this myself.
Much appreciated

Re: Tubberware removal

Problem fixed, thanks again.
Turned the key to go for a test ride and....dead battery. Dealer has one Yuasa left for the ST, pick it up tomorrow. Boy I've been working on this since I bought it last month, hopefully now I can log some trouble free miles.:) Good thing is I learned my way around the ST1300 a little more than when I brought her home.

Re: Tubberware removal

That is great that you are now an expert in taking the ST1300 apart and getting it back together. The ST is easy to kill the original battery on it. Now it sounds like it is time to ride.

Well after looking at the old and the new side by each, the old battery was an "Adventure Power" Chinese battery for $25.00 from Batteryshark.com it was installed March 1st 2013 and last 2 years and 9 months with a tender. (PO kept good records)
I installed a Yuasa YTZ14S factory AGM long life battery with 230CCA and will be maintaining with a tender as the pigtail is already installed by the PO.
My Valkyrie Yuasa last over 8 years, without a tender but frequent riding. I guess one gets what one pays for. Curious to see how long this lasts on the ST?
