Uncle Phil hit a deer

Well, what's left of me just landed back in the Holler.
Left hand evidently was dragging behind and ripped the glove off during the long slide.
It's pretty much 'skint toast' but nothing appears to be broken.
Right knee was the size of a volleyball, now it's the size of a softball.
Left knee swollen some.
Both ankles are sprained and feet are badly bruised so walking is a bit challenging even with a walker.
Deer came from under the guard rail so I didn't see it until it was too late - not even a second to put on the brakes.
Don't know if I hit it or it hit me but it's dead and I am not!
On the slab doing 75mph from best I can tell.
Was conscious for the entire slide thinking 'Is this never gonna end?'
Bluebelle took out two guard rail posts so she is toast.
Destroyed my glasses, laptop, cameras, CPAP, GPSs and pretty much anything of value.
Kevin R. was so very gracious to pick up the motorcycle remains and hold it until I can get it.
Without the Lord, Hit-Air vest that saved my torso/my neck, my helmet that saved my head, and gear I was wearing, I would not be here typing this.
The entire hospital staff and roadside workers were astonished that I never lost consciousness and did not have to be air-flighted to a trauma center.
I will not be able to ride for quite a while as the time it will take to heal and resolve the severe bruising will be lengthy.
So I will have to cancel out of quite a few events until I get functional again.
Thanks for all of your kind thoughts and prayers and friendships.
It's good to hear that you're on the mend Uncle Phil, and here's wishing you a full recovery in time.

Well that Bluebelle looks a whole lot worse than my Bluesteel did when I had my encounter with a white van violating my progress......

So glad you are home and have been able to get freshened up, not as glad perhaps as Miss Sharyn is maybe, but life goes on....

You take your time to heal big brother and we can hopefully get together at some point in the future to do that Mississippi ride!

The grace of God comes to us in many ways, not least His greatest gift at Calvary!

I'd gladly help ferry BlueBelle back to the hollar so UP has one less thing to worry about! I could trailer it from Central Ohio southward if someone could get it from the Jamestown NY area to me. I just don't know how easily we could transfer the bike/pallet from trailer to trailer.

I've been on the road camping 6 weeks and won't be home until after OH-SToc on Fathers day. With dealing with all the return fun/responsibilities at home, and other prior commitments, it would be in July before I could assist.

Many thanks for the update, my friend. My wish is that you heal fully and hopefully quickly. I expect you’ll get lots of loving TLC now that you’re back home. You’ve sure had your share of “events” since we firST met at EastSTOC over 25 years ago.

Warm Regards (and a very gentle virtual hug), John

PS Did the forest rat take your phone, too? I did drop you a text…

John - I'm about texts like you are about PMs - I don't do them! ;)
The phone was about the only thing that did not get destroyed but it was in the bike when I went down and I didn't get it til much later.

The boy stands in good with the lord.. I stopped in and seen him pound on the ivory's one Sunday morning at church.. No way is the lord "calling him in!" lots of people depend on him spreading the word in that hollar! AND they probably obsoleted the ST1100 by now up there!

someone find me a Pie-ano!!!!!! I need it!

Hello UP!!! Great to see you posting!!! You’ll put Blue
Bell all back together they make blue colored duct take!!!
Heal up fast!!!
Hugs from Pam and Jay
AKA my pushers

catching up on this late, Phil. Hopes for a good recovery. Was the deer insured? What TF was it driving to turn such sad look of damage in that trailer?? Sad to see.

(PS. I’d have claimed 115mph, an elk, and 7 ribs just for the giggles...maybe not giggles with a busted ribs).
