Just saw this, glad you’re still breathing. Prayers for comfortable healing, and for your caretaker.
Vest was Hit-Air MLV2-C - a tethered one.
sounds like a must have
It was the largest/longest that Hit-Ait sells AFAIK (BTDTGTTV).@Uncle Phil, I saw you wearing your vest at your RTE in Mansfield last month. I'm very glad you were wearing it when you met that NY deer, but I think you were wearing the wrong size vest. When I chose my Turtle 2, I wanted coverage down to my tailbone. I will grant you that my large ex long vest probably makes me look like a clown, but I have 'tested' the vest 3 times in non moving tip overs on my (tall for me) VStrom when I put my foot down and found no pavement. Each time I felt like a hot dog in a bun - fully protected. Your vest looks to me like formal wear for a waiter, it is too short and does not have enough girth for your frame. Of course, nobody knows what kind of protection a larger vest would have afforded you in Jamestown, and no vest will protect your legs, feet, hands and arms, but it stands to reason a longer vest will protect more of your torso than a short one.
I would urge you to try different size vests, and hope you never again have to test its protective features.
S...l....o....w....l.....y.....I'm tall and skinny which is also hard to find anything that fits right. My arms spread out are 6' 5.5" with a 34 waist and 36 inch inseam. But I'm only 6 ft tall and only 150 pounds. My size like Uncle Phil is always out of stock. At least the vest saved your life and the rest of your ribs . How's the healing going?
You should try and find gear when you are 5'5 1/2" tall, 175 pounds, 36" waist and 25" true inseam and short arms. They don't stock/sell much in the way of protective Keebler elf clothes eitherI'm tall and skinny which is also hard to find anything that fits right. I'm already home but will be gone again on Tuesday through Saturday for a 50 year anniversary retreat...Man he's having some bad luck. I recall my first ride with him in 2001. I followed him to Blue Ridge and we rode the dragon. It was way back in Steninar's old ST page, started in the 90s I think.
I'm going to ride up that way when he gets home.
Don't do anything that will make you need to breathe hard.I'm already home but will be gone again on Tuesday through Saturday for a 50 year anniversary retreat...![]()
Yeah, I think they must use the 'perfect' body models for what they stock in motorcycle gear. You should try and find gear when you are 5'5 1/2" tall, 175 pounds, 36" waist and 25" true inseam and short arms. They don't stock/sell much in the way of protective Keebler elf clothes either
The busted rib is the least of the issues.Don't do anything that will make you need to breathe hard.
