VA-Western: Tag

Looks like this tag is overdue for a move!

Was just up there last sunday too! Knew I should have looked at tags before leaving.

Passing through on the way home from GA Spring Rally 2016. WAY too nice a day not to spend time tag-hunting.

Here's where the tag used to be:

and now it's here, a few miles east down US 58 and not very far from the NC tag I also set today.

I missed a couple of key turns and added about 50 miles (maybe more?) to the day. It was gorgeous and I had no other agenda, so it was GREAT!

It is also, I believe, close to the home of Wayne Henderson. Those who are into acoustic finger-style guitar may recognize the name. He lives in Rugby, VA (I think; at least he issued an album named "Rugby Guitar" some 25-odd years back...) and I passed through that on my way to make the drop.

Wow no movement?

*Sigh* I guess Ill finally get around to moving this in a few weeks... The "pick up" picture still counts even though its almost a year old right?
 
I think 6 months is the rule and I'm staying in Galax through the weekend. I'll try to pick this one up while I'm here. . .

I just realized that this is the border between Virginia and North Carolina. . . Lol. No wonder I couldn't find Ashe county in Virginia. .

There were a couple subtle hints in the photo.

Disappointing that the tag has sat untouched for two years. The real irony is that I dropped the NC tag on the other side of that same road, 20 feet from where I was standing to take the photo of the VA Western tag, and it moved a year and a half ago.

New. . . Bypassed the old one due to age.

The old Max, VA post office and general store. It has been converted to a rental house. It sits on a road by the same name and its rear property line sits on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's on the left side of the first picture. You can see something blue in the driveway. .in front of the white van. That's my ST. I'll post some more pics later too. . .

I snapped a screen shot. I would guess plus or minus 20 miles won't matter much as so few play the game now.

Now I realize why I missed it. I saw all this as I scanned through, and took it as a dead link to a picture. I should have read more closely.
