You drink too much coffee!
And you breathe too loud, but I’m not judging, am I... :coffee:

G'Day...

-2°/0°C, full overcast + quite foggy today, and @ 98%RH it feels much colder though... 🥶

home and office coffee already absorbed... ☕

found (again) that folks can debate just everything ad nauseam, like the proper orientation of essential motorcycle parts...
of course... everyone is smarter then ~150 Honda engineers... 🏍️

mulling over my next step of my the office tasks...
enter new products into the database or request quotations on noise protection housings... both sounds dull though... o_O

on my way home last night I almost ended up with a genuine push-biker hood ornament decorating the trusty Toyota...
oncoming did he not only pedal and tumble right in the middle of the snowy iced road (giving the first clue about limited mental abilities...),
he then also made a sudden, not-indicated left turn... 3 ft in front of my grille... (confirming my initial diagnosis...)
my swift stop (those Blizzak LM are great tires) + leaning on the horn was of course "thanked" with the usual default sequence of obscene gestures...
but they wonder why nobody likes them... right...

Alright, a "Hump Day", middle of the week, the weekend is dawning...

Thx Martin, let me know if you need me to bail you out one of these days!
Seems there’s trouble waiting to happen to you in the Austrian traffic….

5˚c/41f, overcast, heavy rainshowers, 25mph wind from south, all-in-all not too bad.

Had a moistured walk to the nursing home yesterday afternoon, sitting with Mrs Stu and her father.
If the staff does what Mrs Stu told them(…!), I believe he’s gonna pull through this time too.

Today will be the same, but includes a walk for groceries, and a few episodes of The beast in me (Netflix)…

@ibike2havefun Wonderful wood work, I’m impressed!!

Have a good one! ( Wonder if @He's Watching is watching…or am I being wooleric?)
Stu

Morning all.

5C and raining for the drive in. Should see a cloudy 8 for the drive home.

Folks this morning seem to forget how to drive in warmer, wet temperatures. One minute we're doing 110 and then in a sweeping right turn on a bridge, the outside fast lane suddenly hard brakes to half that. The inside lanes were diving in the 70's or less along the way, so I'm guessing one of the slow folks decided to pass a slower folk.

Be alert. The world needs more lerts.

Obo.

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the coffee Martin, and for the compliment Stu.

It's 47°F and cloudy in Rockville. Continued clouds and a high of 53 are what we're told to expect. The chances of rain have moved several hours to the right, perhaps beginning around 0200 tomorrow instead of 2000 this evening.

We had a great time, as always, at the annual feast yesterday evening, organized and paid for by very generous neighbors. And before that I had an equally enjoyable lunch with old friends whom I've neglected far too much of late.

The mild temperatures today have spurred me to book a tee time for this morning so I'm headed for the goof course later on. Before that a stretch of the legs is in order so I'll walk the 1.25 miles or so to the local pharmacy and collect a prescription that's waiting for me.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Thanks Martin, for the coffee, and for not being thrown in jail.
50-50 chances for rain today, so Kaiser stays home. Sadly, I can't.
But at least it is warmer, nearly 20 degrees moreso than this time yesterday. Mid 50s for a high.
Mid- 20s tomorrow morning, and I'm shivering in anticipation. From dread, not from excitement.
I'll get going... as soon as I finish my Black Rifle.
And for lunch I have half of the steak and shrimp prepared at the Japanese steakhouse we visited last night. Our nieces and nephew now do this every January to remember their late mother, Roz' only sibling.
A reminder that Keith has it right... we're only here for a short time, and we don't get to know how short.
Make it count.

... for not being thrown in jail.
While I'm legally would have not been the one at fault... the ramifications of such incidents are quite laborious...
Seems to suffer the same longing for death, as those pedestrians who suddenly step onto the road, preferable from behind a tall vehicle like truck, van, bus... and dressed in plain black of course...
(guess I should really consider installing my dash-cam... whilst officially illegal over here, the footage does help as evidence in such cases...)

I'm fully focused behind the wheel/handlebar, but observing how many drivers around are distracted by their dumb-phone, arguing with passengers, feeding/beating children/pets on the rear seats, etc... its simply amazing that there not more accidents...

Good morning and thanks for the coffee start, Martin.

It's 27 in Lincoln nh this morning and I'm waiting for the lift to start at Loon Mtn.
Brenda decided to accompany me, but not to ski. She'll be driving home, once I'm done for the day.
We found that the canteen isn't open, so no breakfast goodies.
She's got the extra key for the truck, so she can go and find some breakfast, if she's so inclined.

Enjoy your day,
Steve

And you breathe too loud, but I’m not judging, am I...

Coffee has been known to enhance one's senses, but in my experience it's usually the wrong ones. Thanks, Martin!

G'mornin y'all from SoMD the office! Quick tappy-tap while in a mtg that I'm not needed in. Dull, cloudy, and 48F/9C. The threats of snow are gone until the wknd now, and even that event looks specious at best.

Not much else to report. Trying to revive a small TV /monitor from my daughter's room that I want to use in the office. It wasn't showing any display before and after resoldering some questionable components, I got it to work but only for a few minutes. Then the display blinks out and power light fades away. So, looks like a power board problem too. Fun times...

Welp, I'd better feign interest, so please take care y'all!

Good Morning, Ah Coffee! How I missed it, finished my Antibiotics Yesterday, so I now can have coffee, big Yeah. Thanks Martin for coffee and starting the conversation. So dash cams are illegal in Austria? What Moron came up with that law? Overcast skies 6 C high 9 C supposedly dry but with a 98% humidity with a dew point of 6 C which means it will probably be doing that R word some time today. Done my usual morning stuff, open Airport gate, made and eaten breakfast, coming up to Precious's meds time. Went Shopping with the wife last night, we had a 100 dollar gift card for Walmart, so house has some food in it again. Well not much else on my mind, so Y'all have a good day G

Morning Martin & All from mostly sunny, Southern Utah!

Currently it is 37F, up from 24F and heading for 52F, but Chris and I will be making a Costco run and the temp down there is supposed to be around 63F, so we'll have a chance to defrost for a few hours. No breeze yet, but later the winds will be out of the NNW @ 7 to 8mph.

I took the Highlander in for a oil change and tire rotation, along with gassing it up and running it through the car wash, so it's already for Chris's Quilt retreat, starting on Sunday. WOW, another week of no Adult Supervision! I wonder what kind of trouble I'll get myself into, next week! :rofl1:

Boiled eggs, bacon, toast & OJ to start the morning. Pepsi(s) on the menu for lunch.

Anyone :bl13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

@SupraSabre I was told this morning there's a Costco run in my future this evening. I also get to take someone out for dinner and pay. There's also two new end tables someone wants to match the new couch and chair set that came last week. End tables, almost $400 each? Egads! When I suggested for less than that I could make them and only needed to find some used pallets I got "the double look." Nothing combusted though.

Aren't I the lucky leemer?

Morning all! It's actually sunny with blue sky here now that the fog has burnt off. 9C now, 11C later.

I'm trying to consume as much caffeine as possible to remain upright; our old dog decided to have continuous diarrhea all night and then walk through, or sit in, it. Fun times wrestling a deaf, blind distressed dog in the laundry sink multiple times in the wee hours. She was kind enough to time each new explosive episode for when I was just about to finally fall back to sleep after the prior episode. There may have been some salty language at times. I feel bad for her (now not earlier). I can't imagine it's much fun when you're not sure what the heck is happening except you keep getting shoved into a sink and soaked. Poor pup.

Martin, I echo Gerard's question about why on earth the authorities would have an issue with a dashcam. I'm assuming some misordered privacy concerns.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Austria’s legal framework treats dashcam footage as personal data when it includes identifiable individuals or license plates. That means your dashcam isn’t just a passive observer—it’s a data processor. And under Austria’s Datenschutzgesetz (DSG) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), that comes with serious responsibilities.

What the Law Actually Allows

According to the Austrian automobile club ÖAMTC, dashcams are permitted only in narrowly defined circumstances. The key requirement is purpose limitation. You can use a dashcam to document a specific incident—like a traffic accident—but not to record your entire journey “just in case.”

Continuous recording is considered permanent surveillance, which is legally reserved for public authorities. For private individuals, this kind of blanket monitoring is strictly prohibited. Instead, dashcams must be configured to record only short clips triggered by specific events, such as a sudden impact or hard braking.

Even then, the footage must be limited in scope and duration. Austrian courts have accepted recordings of three to five minutes as reasonable, provided they are automatically deleted if no incident occurs. The camera’s angle and resolution must also be restricted to avoid capturing more than necessary.

Oh, great.
You KNOW you're going to be hit, so rather than try to avoid it, NOW you have permission to turn on your camera.
That makes sense.
Just like, "I'm about to crash on my motorbike, so let me stop first and put on my boots, helmet, gloves and jacket."
OK.
Now I'm ready for the collision.

I've been thru there in the Summer, riding the Kanc (Kancamagus Hwy.) Stopped at GH Pizza for lunch. Food was decent priced and tasty. Loon Mnt looked nice, albeit Summer vs Winter.

1768400265985.png
I've never stopped there, but have passed it on the way to and from Loon.
We stayed at the Kangamangus Lodge, during one of the earler NNESTocs, and dined closer to that.
I've got to get up there with Brenda, this summer. There are plenty of nice roads to be sampled.

Loon is a four-season mountain, by the way. They have hiking and I think biking, once the snow is off the slopes.
