Waterpump weep hole

Try starting the bike with the radiator cap off. Let it run ,but watch it close,if ther is air it will burp and you can add more coolant. button it up and restart and wait for fans. Ill do some reading on the fan system to see what I can find . Good luck, keep us posted.:D:03biker: The temp thing worries me as well. I've never seen my bike over 3 bars. Let's get those fans running guy's Help figure this one out

Thanks for all the help guys.. I don't have any electrical gauges to measure anything...I'll have to wait for my brother-in-law to come over. The 30 amp fuse looks normal. But Looking back when I was on the side of the road checking my Ipod when all this seemed to have happened...I don't remember the fans ever coming on. Because when they do it usually changes the idle speed. Its amazing that it only went to 4 bars...Of course I was back on I65 running pretty fast as soon as it went to 4 bars. No more idling til I was in the garage. But I am sure there are no leaks at this point. The fans spin like they always did when I turned them with my hand. The engine makes no unusual noise. STeveR

Hey SteveR, the manual shows fan relay is middle one in the back at fuse box under left side cover.! from out to in its fuel relay, fan relay, then turn signal relay .Good luck !

Steve, you might of had a lot of air left in the system, the fans won't come on if the sensor is in air.
That's where I would look next. A trapped air bubble near the thermoswitch for the fan has caused more headaches . . . . and the unnecessary replacement of more parts than you can shake a stick at. If the 1300 is like the 1100, the thermoswitch for the fan is located on the thermostat cover and that's the usual place for air to get trapped when you replace it . . . . and it's not easy to burp it all out either, but until you do it could give you exactly the symptoms you have now

It isn't. The fan switch on the 1100 is at the bottom of the radiator; the thing on the thermostat housing is the sender for the temperature gauge. On the 1300, the fan and the temperature gauge are under the control of the ECM, which reads the temperature from a sensor in the thermostat housing.

Since Steve's seeing a high temperature on the dash, that's a good indication that the sensor is doing its job.

Thanks for all the input--The bike is repaired..3 bars ten minutes later the fans come on. The ambient temp is very low this morning. Ran it without the radiator cap until it burped...must have gotten rid of any air in the system. Restarted it--took at least 10 minutes after 3 bars( was about to give up) until the fans kicked in. only ran about 7-10 seconds...but stayed on 3 bars. I let it idle for 30 minutes 3bars. No leaks..yet. Thanks for all the input. SteveR:)
