"Wax" Idle control unit.

I always thought it strange that Honda used this wax valve/starter valve system. Fuel injected cars had stepper motors performing this function long before the ST1300 came in to being. They not only controlled the cold fast idle but also dynamically controlled the hot idle speed as well. It is a much simpler system that offers more precise control of both the cold and the hot idle. The technology existed, was in use, and was proven reliable long before the ST1300 went in to production.

I have always wondered:

Once the wax melts the first time, how does it get back to its original size, shape, and position?

"How do it know?"
