Good morning everyone

There's fresh dark roast (sorry, I forget what brand and model exactly, but it's hot and smooth and tasty) in the pot for you today.

It's 32°F in Rockville- quite a contrast to yesterday's start at 63, or the 83 we had for a high on Thursday afternoon. It's clear and feels like 14 thanks to a 10 mph NW breeze. I'll stay inside where it's warm, for a while longer yet.

Mrs. Fun is headed downtown for various events today; my participation will be limited to dropping her at the local Metro station in a couple hours.

After that, I'll be unsupervised. What could possibly go wrong?

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Thx Keith, and good morning!

7˚c/45f, rain, rain, rain, oh yes and wind, 25mph from southwest.

Sons drive home yesterday took 12 hours iso the usual 7-8….heavy snow, accidents en mass, detours..
He parked at 2pm.
No beers for me, wanted to stay sober in case he needed some help underway.

Today will be, I don’t know yet.
Wx too wet for outdoor activities.
Snoop agrees.

Have a nice and calm weekend!
Stu

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Keith.

It's mostly sunny and 25, rising to 36 as it clouds up towards evening.

Yesterday took a wrong turn...
I did the gym thing, okay.
Then I tood a drive over to the local motorcycle dealer for some oil. The plan was to change the oil and filter on the Wing, to get it ready for the riding season.
When I got back home, I tried to put it on the center stand to make it easier to drain the oil and access the filter. My arthritic right knee wouldn't let me get the leverage to get it up, so I stepped on the center stand with my LEFT foot and gave a yank.
I heard a pop, then the pain in my lower calf began...
I limped into the house, tried to ice it down, then went to the Minute Clinic downtown.
The long and short of it is that I tore my achilles tendon on my left foot!
They wrapped it and sent me home with crutches. I'll follow up with an orthopedic consult next week.

So today's plan is to camp out in my recliner and take it easy.
That's probably the plan for the next few weeks, at least.

Have a great day,
Steve

Good morning, all, and thanks for the much needed brew, Keith!

Most of the snow we got over the past week has melted, though we still have a ways to go before it's all gone. The good news is that the sun is noticeably stronger now and whatever snow does come down seems to melt pretty quickly, so I guess spring is making a valiant effort. We have lovely sunshine today, but it's on the cold side: -9°C/16°F with a feels-like of -14°C/7°F now, high of -1°C/30°F (windchill -7°C/19°F) later. Temps will warm up from here and will be much more spring-like on Monday - it's supposed to get all the way up to 12°C/54°F.

Right, must get my act together and get meself downtown to have me barnet trimmed. Everyone have a good one, stay safe and go safely.

Patty

Thanks for the start and it's a good one so far all quiet on the western well all fronts at the moment silence is golden forty nine and three quarter hours of on call but who's counting
Geeze that's a tough one Steve I hope your recovery goes well
We've got a nice looking day out there and had a good one yesterday; we've got one of our hummingbird friends hanging around the feeder and not looking well but he's
been a little more active last day or so might have been the first morning in a month we ran the heater out front usually take a wide walk around the front see him either on
the ledge or hiding just below in a shrub of some kind today he tore off to some trees a couple hundred feet away when he saw me so he might be okay
These guys are rough with each other in our neck of the woods; banging and bumping and a few years back I watched a pair go straight up a few hundred feet and into a pinwheel
lately though we've seen more instances of two on a feeder without chasing each other off and they've also shown some tolerance for our seemingly sick near resident [edit] but still
no tolerance for me I still get the helicopter near haircut coming inside; I may start to wear safety glasses
hopefully the weather remains good - better already, only forty nine and half left
Wish everyone a good one and a safe ride if you get out

Morning all and thanks for the cup of "guestimate" Keith.

-8 here headed to -4. At least it's sunny. I did see a small flock of Canadian Geese on a local golf course yesterday on my drive home (no golfing here yet) so Spring is getting near.

@steve3b3 Sorry to hear about the leg. I first thought you were going to say you went to the dealer and bought a new bike. Then as you progressed I thought "oh no, he dropped the wing." I was wrong on both counts, and never saw the tendon thing coming.

I hope everyone has a good day and takes it easy.

Obo.

Thanks for the coffee Keith, it is greatly needed.
Let's see, high points of late:

+ 20F this morning but supposed to be sunny-ish and no snow today.

+ Trying to get acclimated to the temperatures here at home. After spending the last couple weeks in Florida wearing shorts and light t-shirts I've dug out jeans and flannel shirts. I drove, leaving Wednesday morning and arrived Thursday afternoon, making it a quick transition. I had to shovel snow off the steps to get into the house.

+ There is a birthday gathering for my eldest at his house today. I understand he is deep frying a turkey.

+ There are all the usual tasks looming for the next couple days, laundry, grocery shopping and cooking to refill my very empty refrigerator.

Oh well, enough rambling, I need to absorb the rest of this coffee and spend some time admiring the remaining piles of snow around the house.

Be safe, be careful, and don't get too excited about spring - I think Mother Nature is planning something!

Neither did I!
I was actually looking at other potential bikes on the way thru the showroom to the parts area. Nice bikes, but only a few caught my fancy.
At this rate, not being able to get the bike on the center stand, I might be looking for something lighter, eventually.
I question my ability to shift, right now.
Maybe something lighter and DCT-ish?...

Good Morning, thanks Keith, no brand coffee, count me in. With all the health issues I have been through lately at least I am still allowed Coffee. Heal quick Steve, lighter bike or power up the center stand, been thinking about designing a system for Lady. Well weather is good enough for a longer ride, Partly Cloudy 4 C high 10 C, and dry. Y'all have a good day G

Thanks Keith. FR will always be appreciated.

That was me too.
Thinking-wise, not hurting-myself-wise. Ouch!
Days can take a wrong turn sometimes, just like ankles and GPSs.
Got a cold front through here last night, woke up to 50° (y'all be quiet! I'm still in Alabama!) but next few days will be getting warmer.
Probably weed eating today, maybe some chainsawing, and likely some frustrating time will be spent with my two mowers that are still on strike.
Still pondering the Japanese decluttering exercise, whatever it's called. The pondering can be fun, the actual decluttering not so much.
For those of you who have succeeded at this... do you ever get the idea to start your organizing, and then 12 hours later you're just standing around looking at a mess and wondering "what the heck have I done?"

do you ever get the idea to start your organizing, and then 12 hours later you're just standing around looking at a mess and wondering "what the heck have I done?"

More often I go to the site of the mess, take a long look, shrug and turn away in despair and with no clue of even where I'd begin.

Good morning all!
Thanks for today’s start, Keith!
Steve, sorry to hear of your injury!
I understand that is worse than an actual break!

Scott, I enjoyed my visit with you & your brother! I came home to at least a foot of snow!

Anyone that is visiting my area, (the Bruce Peninsula) in Ontario, if I’m home, you are welcome to stop by for a visit!
Presently 27F / -3 C a bit overcast, but still chilly!
Enjoy your day!

Morning Keith & All from mixed clouds & Sun, in Southern Utah!

The Heat Wave is pretty much over, Spring is coming back. Currently it is 67F, up from 37F and heading for 74F. A slight breeze now, but later the winds will be out of the SW @ 22 to 30mph.

Steve, WOW, that was not expected at all! Hoping for a quick healing.

I'll be out in the back, again today. I need to get the other two piers on the greenhouse foundation. When we get back next week from SoCal, the weather is looking cooler and wet. So I need to get as much done today as possible.

Hot cereal and toast with OJ, to start the morning. Pepsi(s) for later.

Anyone :dr13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

I heard a pop, then the pain in my lower calf began...
I am assuming that you attempted to raise the motorcycle by placing the ball or forward part of your foot on the centre-stand while applying downward force. I always advise people to use the heel of their foot so that there is no possibility of flexing anything beyond its limit as the foot does not bend upward. I also tell myself that this will help me avoid a similar fate.

I have never had this injury so I don't know the course that it takes but I do hope that you recover quickly and are not in to much pain.
