Pulled the tail assembly off to change out the bulbs for LEDs, also a clean & polish. During testing I realized the bottom of the lens is clear for the plate illumination, since I bought red LEDs for the running/stop lamp, you can guess the plate is red too. Oh well coppers gotta spot it and care to give a ticket.
I knew of this issue from other site members and was prepared with this: Bright & Small LED Modules for Cabinet & Vehicle. I got the cool white, straight in a black housing.
I just need to tap into preferably a hot lead for the tail lamp or any ignition on circuit.
The final step in my complete LED conversion.

Nice solution, you mount it internal or external on the lens?
Any advice on changing over to LED? Are there any kits available or website to get educated on the process?Did the same on mine about a week ago. Perfect! Gotta get those blasted marker bulbs changed out to LEDs next. Found these pliers that were recommended from a Honda mech. Hope they work!

Finally got the rear brake pads to behave long enough to get the rear tire back on.

Did an oil change this afternoon, T4 Shell 15/40 and Mobil 1 oil filter. Repaired the cigar lighter/power port in the left box it had a broken wire, so I replaced it with a new unit with USB ports.

I haven't mounted it yet, but planned to go external. I was also thinking of 3D printing a wedge that I'd mount it to that would angle it forward and down toward the license plate rather than simply down. I'd use another small strip of 3M VHB tape to do that.
Well, I'm a do it yerselfer, so I sourced all my components individually.
There is a seller on ebay, lightenupgrade, that sells a complete kit with everything except the headlights and license plate light. Here's a listing for it. Switchback Indicator kit DRL ST1300 inc rear indi tail LED bulbs lightenupgrade. Price? Approx. $164 USD plus about $28 shipping from the UK for the same components I bought for $111.87 delivered. Oh, and that's for the Euro spec ST1300, not the USA Spec. That USA Spec kit only includes the front lenses and switchback LEDs and a replacement wiring plug.
But I totally benefitted from all the legwork that other members of this site did on performing the same conversions and sharing with us. There are lots of threads on this site that cover this in great detail. But in general with the exception of replacing the flasher and the mounting of the headlight electronics modules along with the tab modification, it's no different than simple bulb replacements.
Below is what I ordered and from where. I paid $111.87 for everything that's in the lightenupgrade kit, but the red and amber rear lights came in 4-packs so I have two each remaining of those. I've got two other bikes they'll likely go in. Then I added the headlights and the Oznium module. Total cost including those was $175.
There are many sellers of the clear lenses for the 1300 on ebay. I suspect they all come from the same molds and same factory. Their price shipped to the US all hover just above $30 USD.
I chose the QasimLed T10 bulbs specifically to match the color temperature of the headlight and they do very well. To my eye and my cell phone camera the white of the iBrightstar switchback bulbs match those lamps rather well too.
This was a very straight forward swap of bulbs and flasher with perhaps the exception of removing the tabs from the headlight bulb rings. I used a Dremel with a cut off wheel. Others have just bent them off using pliers. But regardless I would recommend removing the headlight shell and follow the method @Obo shared for mounting the Katana electronics modules. We used 3M Dual Lock to attach them to the back of the headlight on either side of the bulb socket.
The rear signals and brake light bulbs are a bear to install however, regardless whether they were LED or not. I struggled for way too long with the brake lights in particular until I laid on the ground with my head directly below the brake light; then I could see the base and socket and line everything up in short order. Working blind by feel wasn't doing it for me. The turn signals just presented a tight space for my hands to get into but eventually I got them in.
Everything from Amazon arrived within two days of my order. The clear lenses were shipped from China and arrived within ten days with default free shipping.
I am quite pleased with the result.

Took the longer ride the other day with the scrolling digital map and was not really liking where it sat. I put a plate on the bar cover and a short arm so it sat just below the gauges. Went looking for the Migsel top of spedo cowl bracket and in the end I couldn’t justify the cost albeit a beautiful piece. So I did this...

I did not fiddle with the bike this weekend, but I spent a good part of a cold, rainy Sunday trying to become proficient with Basecamp. Hey Garmin - If there are hundreds of videos on youtube trying to explain how to use your product, your product may need some attention. Now, get off of my lawn!

That's the RBIS Dash Shelf (RAM Ball Installation System) by SportTouringGear.com. Unfortunately they appear to be out of business as their most recent dated entry on their defunct web page appears to be in 2018. I bought mine from another site member. The curved bar of aluminum is the only piece that needs fabrication. The rest are parts, other than the RAM balls, you could easily source at your local ACE Hardware.

The owner (part owner?) was a member here and shut the business down some years ago. IIRC (and no guarantee that I do) another member first fabbed a one-off RBIS out of RAM balls and aluminum stock. Legend has it somebody else (of SportTouringGear.com) got the blessing to make production versions. I have one an like it a lot. The Migsel was tempting but just seemed a little to pricey. There was a plan to somehow bevel the edge of the RBIS and paint it wrinkle/hammered black to dress it up a little. That made its way to the bottom of a very long ToDo list.
That pretty much matches the description of the unit I have. The bar is very nicely machined, has a recess/counterbore machined into the topside of the outer mounting points. Plus an nice wrinkled finish too. Top notch work!
While trying to deliver an informed reply to @Willsmotorcycle I searched for the RBIS where I found that link I included in my first post, but the first link I tried was to post in the NT-Owners.org website where your apocryphal story is backed up first hand by their member, karl. And at the risk of impacting my ability to equip my 1300 with the finest of rare farkles, it also shows how when you encounter a widget that piques your interest, grab it! Because if you don't someone else will, and these items are only getting harder to find. OEM tank pad or Hondaline trunk anyone?

Which I did, for the Migsel. But I keep that on my first-to-see in this delightful forum.
