Where to get child-size helmets?

My six year old son wants to go for a ride on the ST1100 with big daddy REAL bad. Does anyone know a good source of child sized helmets? Thanks.

Dirt bike helmets can be found in some of the chain stores too, even Wally's World has them.

I just went through this for my son. After a lot of research, the only full-face street helmets that I found are made by HJC. They sell for around $80 to $90 new. While at the dealership picking up my ST, they had one so I had my son try it on. It fit.

I got lucky. When I arrived home, I found one on Ebay in his size for $50. Father & son have taken many trips around town ever since.

On another note, if you want to purchase a riding jacket for him, the only option I have come up with is a womans Extra Small or Small Cortech.

you would let your child wear a $50 helmet??:D sorry ... lets not go there!
Usually you will find an adults XS helmet might fit properly. My 7 yo has an xs and it fits perfect. you might also want to check out www.babybiker.com I got stuff from them in the past and was really good quality.

My daughter wears a XXXS Shoei RF1000 that was on clearance. Dealers don't move a lot of helmets in this size and you may get one of them to cut a good deal on one. This would be better than the $79.00 "kids" helmets that are out there.

My Harley dealer has a full line of childrens riding gear including helmets.

I bought my son a child size Vega at a local dealership. From what I've been told, you don't want to buy a kid an adult helmet even if it does fit, due to the weight of the helmet. Supposedly child size helmets are made out of different material to make them lighter weight, since a kids neck is not going to be as strong as an adults. Again, this is just what I've heard and don't know if there is any truth to it or not.

Also, I just bought my 9 year old a woman's XS Cortech textile jacket and it fits him great. And I got it for about half price because XS isn't a popular size.

HJC makes kid size full face street helmets (kid size S/M and M/L). They should be available from any HJC retailer. I got my daughter's M/L when she was 9 and at 11 it still fits.
