Does anyone know a good wrench in the PHX, San Diego or LA area to do engine work on an 1100.
Either a head gasket or worse issue.

Crud! I just gave away a well running ST1100 engine for free! The taker was just going to cut it in half, put glass on it and use it as a coffee table. Which it could have gone to someone who needed it but shipping cost was the barrier. What are the symptoms??
Head gasket failures on 1100s are not very common, unless somebody decided to run it with little or no coolant.
If it really needs a new head gasket, it might be more cost effective to find a salvage engine and do a replacement.
I deal with D&D Discount Cycles in Tempe. They know their way around a Honda and straight shooters. Steves Cycles in Mesa seem good. Spoke with them several times, but have not done business with them. Shop each of them.Does anyone know a good wrench in the PHX, …... area to do engine work on an 1100.
Do you know how the cylinder wall cracked? Was the engine overheated at some point? Curious...Bought an engine and need to finish the install. Swap the good stuff and put it back together. Was a cracked cylinder wall.
That was my first reply. Then realized the original post was from July 2018.Isn't Igofar down there.
Still curious as to the circumstances that cause this... overheating?Bought an engine and need to finish the install. Swap the good stuff and put it back together. Was a cracked cylinder wall.
I don't know about anyone else, but I'd like to see a pic of the coffee table.Crud! I just gave away a well running ST1100 engine for free! The taker was just going to cut it in half, put glass on it and use it as a coffee table.
