Wind Deflector Modification (of the rubber part, not the plastic MX cover)

Anyone still have the info on what this mod entailed? I seem to recall there was a procedure to drill a matching hole in both the small piece and the fairing piece that used an inserted pin to make the retention more robust than just a slightly longer push pin that goes through the existing MX cover hole but with the website reset, the information may no longer be available on the site. Just wondering if anyone had done the mod and could provide pics/info now that I again have two MX covers AND two wind deflector pieces...trying not to have them depart again while going down the road. If not, I may have to mull it over and try to come up with something on my own. Thanks, Gus
 
Are you talking about the little wind deflector trim pieces, along with the matching fairing pieces just above the valve cover access?

I think there is a longer push pin that you are supposed to use once the wind deflector is installed. I didn't trust it, I just got a simple body screw with a u clip on the back side and snuggly tightened it down. Something like this (picture borrowed from internet):
