Another factory I used to work at in the paint department had a similar saying when we were being pushed for production numbers - “we ain’t got time to do it right but we got time to do it over” usually meant that the parts with bad paint were about to hit the stripping tank only to be hung back on the paint chainWe had a saying in the Air Force.
There's never enough time to do the job right the first time, but there's always enough time to do the job later the right way.
If it is worth doing, it's worth doing right.
