I was ordering tires for my bike yesterday and noticed a 180/55ZR17 Pirelli Angel GT. How much would this change the gearing or speedometer?

it's not going to change the speedo/odo, that's run by the front tire. It'll change the gearing by less than 1% according to the tire comparison site. I was thinking of going to that size to try the Shinko X2, but haven't done it yet.

ST1300 runs vehicle speed sensor off the transmission thus rear wheel.

Many threads on running 180/55s. Depending on the tire and the one it's replacing it's not enough to worry about.

I have that tire on my ST13,,, and chose it specifically because I wanted the "A" spec tire,,, which is not available as an Angel GT in our stock size. No discernible difference in performance. Speedo was already off by 3 or 4%,, so .75% more error was not a factor. This tire has met my expectations,,, and I feel the "A-spec" is a must have. I think, imho, it is one of the top 3 rear rear tire choices out there, for this bike. It's wear rate has been very good,,, but it is still too soon for me to say if it is excellent,,, as I am only about 2/3 done. But wear is looking very good at this point. I should also say,, that I "expect" excellent performance from premium priced tires. Cheers,, Cat'

I did put the Shinko X2 on my ST13. Just completed a 5200 mi week. I have been very happy with the handling and the wear. If I could post pic, I would. I would say there is at least as many miles left on it, so I'm thinking 10-11K is what I will end up with. So far, no evidence of cupping either. IMO has been good purchase. 119 from Dennis Kirk.

I purchased the bike with the Pirelli tires on it and 7500 miles. I'd guess they had a couple of thousand miles on them then. The bike has 11500 miles on it now and they are showing some wear in the center ( between 1/16 and 1/8" from the bars). I wouldn't change them yet normally but I'm driving to Texas and back in a couple of weeks and don't want to cut it close on the way home. Probably 3500-4000 mile trip. I usually run Michelin Pilot Road 3's o my r1100rt but I think I'll try another set of Pirellis just because they are quite a bit cheaper than the Michelins. I ordered the stock size.

I had new tires mounted on Friday. I'll get a chance to compare them to my old favorites ( Michelins PR ) starting with fresh tires.
