I prefer carrying my coffee dramatically from room to room...

woke up with itchy eyes and a slightly drippy nose...
I never had such, I can't have allergies, I'm Gen-X, I drank from the garden hose...
I'm supposed to have the constitution of a tardigrade, able to withstand conditions in the vacuum of space...

Its Mothers Day over here...
unfortunately another social icon soon to be "deleted" by that cancel culture... pfffff...
Soon we ban hair-shampoo to not offend bald people...

OTOH a day you definitely avoid to get out on the roads...
The one day of the year "good kids" drag their 80~90+ year old moms out the comfort of their retirement homes,
stuff them into their sedan, and drive them to some 'eating temple'... not a chance to get a table anywhere...
but don't drive over 20mph, or the old bag is going to throw up in the car...

ze GF and I have been busy in her garden, she had a worker over the past couple of days, fixing up the crumbling concrete walkway...
to apply his sealant/cement we'd to trench out the soil like 6" wide aside the pathway, lawn, flower beds, everything...
piles of topsoil on tarps we now had to screen out again, shovel the fine stuff into the wheelbarrow, pour it back, level all out...
I also had to reposition/fix the pop-up sprinklers again, the irrigation system was offline for two weeks to keep that concrete dry...
The lawn isn't happy though...
Adjusting those sprinkler heads is like syncing a 6-zyl engine: adjusting the spraying distance of one, will mess up the setting
of the other five, etc... so you saw me hopping around a bit, soaking wet pants and such...

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the Norwegian double shot, @STooRay and @increasing, it's needed and appreciated.

Dawn is dawning and day is breaking n Rockville , where it's 50°F and clear. The high may be around 79, and it may or may not begin to rain around 1500 hours, with higher odds around 1800.

Yesterday's ride to the cricket match was enjoyable but this morning I'm keenly aware of how badly out of condition I've become. There's a long hard road ahead, so to speak, if I'm to regain even a reasonable fraction of my former form. I'll never ride again like I could in my 20s and 30s, of course, but I'd prefer to be more capable than I am at the moment. The problem is, I hate to suffer and the only way I know to get stronger is to push the envelope, which necessarily involves suffering. Oh well.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Good job on the coffee, Stu. It may take a while, but folks will gradually wake up when they smell it! My day was interesting yesterday, I got my self "climatized" to the new bike by riding 731 km. Saw some roads and towns which were new to me. Had a look at a '79 CB450, but not buying it. Re-paint is wrong colour, and some other blemishes turned me away. However, the grip and seat heaters on the Indian worked well, and I got home non the worse for wear! Lots more riding coming up...

Had a look at a '79 CB450, but not buying it.

Several years ago a fellow in my area listed a 1980 Suzuki GS750E for sale. The bike was in beautiful condition and even came with the optional factory-installed add-on Windjammer fairing and panniers. This was the big brother of the bike my cousin had, back in the day, and after which I had lusted for 35 years.

The seller let me take it for a short spin. I'd have loved to have it, BUT recognized that it would be a bad choice to do so.

1. I don't have a garage to store it, and leaving it out in the weather, even under a cover, would gradually destroy it.
2. Technology changed considerably between 1980 and 2004 when Honda built my ST1300. That was particularly true of effective brakes; the Suzi just didn't have the braking power that the Honda had.
3. I'm also sufficiently self-aware that I know I'd not maintain it adequately, to keep it in such excellent condition. I don't want to own a showpiece that I can't ride, and I don't want to ride a showpiece that I'll ruin by doing so.

But I appreciated the opportunity, and told the guy so.

As we get older, we tend to reflect on the bikes we used to have, should have had, or wished we had. Couple months ago, I did find a 1990 VFR750, and bought it. A joy to ride. The forks do need attention, however. They bottom out easily, so first thing is finding somewhat heavier than normal oil to test, then go from there.
For now, more coffee!

55/80 and sunny for today. The forecasters were all giddy about the beautiful, sunny weather that’s forecast for the next 10 days, however they failed to mention that it will again move us from drought, to extreme drought conditions. April showers didn’t happen this year.

Looks like it’s time for another cup, while I sit on the deck, hand feeding my birds. I have discovered a downside from having so many feathered friends. I can no longer take a nap on the deck, because as soon as I doze off, the Titmice start landing on me and begin pecking, forcing a retreat to the indoors.

Good morning, and thanks for the double coffee start, guys.

My bladder woke me this morning, as it usually does, and I found three cats stairing at empty food bowls.
Light showing through the blinds told me that it was later than the normal 3;30 WC time.
It was actually 5:15, so after the WC break, they all got fed and watered. I couldn't see myself staying awake so early, so went back to sleep until 7:00.

As forecast, it rained all day yesterday on and off.
The forecast for today is for cloudy skies and 51, rising to 70 and becoming partly cloudy.
They threw in a chance of rain this afternoon as well.

@catcher, My first bike was a 74 CB450. Also my last, until the ST. That was stolen from outside my apartment, and was never right after I got it back, months later. Before that, I commuted on it from my home in NJ to the base in New London, a few times, and a memorable April ride up through Vermont on Rt.91 to visit a girlfriend in Berlin, NH. c-c-cold! I think I spent an hour in a laundromat in White River Junction, trying to warm back up among the driers.
When I started dating Brenda, she also got the pleasure of a MC ride to NJ and back to CT. She definately remembered the seat! That seat eventually influenced her approval for the ST, once she sat on it. The salesman had us sit two-up on the ST, and her only comment was "This'll do". I rode the ST home, that afternoon.

Today, we'll spend the day at home, I think. We went out for dinner, last night, so we might dine in, tonight

Nice story, nice memory, Steve! I did have a 450 back in the day, but it was actually my 5th bike, if I include a little XL 100 which I had bought for my then girlfriend. She became quite proficient, borrowed my XL 250, and rode off into the sunset... I did get both bikes back, however,lol! The 450 wasn't loaned out to anyone, male or female!
Time to get ready for church...
