New tag would have been difficult to find via Google
Actually, even for an out of stater, I had it in under 30 seconds of online searching. I believe I could ride right to it.
There is a wide range of what people think is enough information or adequately broad hints; that will never change. Do what you think is proper.
But I agree with Ziamon, a much more experienced tag-hunter, that this game is not "hide and seek" it is "tag".
Unless you are specifically trying to limit participation to a few local riders who know all the secret good spots it's better to make the tag locations findable. You don't have to post an address or GPS coordinates right off the bat but some identifiable clues are good.
Part of the fun, at least for me, is enjoying the online search process; I won't physically hunt for a tag until I know where it is, more-or-less. If there is a tag I want to go get and I can't find it on my own, I'll ask for a hint. I've had to ask for hints on a couple of the mid-Atlantic tag locations, after hunting fruitlessly online for quite some time, and have always gotten good responses.
Good luck, and happy tagging!
