I really dont know how to balance privacy with my visit to the kids. So, in my desire to give them privacy, i, in my most unselfish way rode up and down wolf creek pass. It was colder than a twiches whit, so i feel like i suffered appropriately for them.
the bar pic is where my kids are part owners. U should drop my name ifu ever stop in. They might give you a free yuppy cocktail!14953DF0-40C9-4765-97A2-CA8AC4500393.jpeg7CD13A13-89F6-4FE5-A650-770B53D1230A.jpeg064D8A2B-EF5C-480B-A0C3-4540111E7FB4.jpegE604E8CC-347E-4E70-8730-86BE9A208223.jpeg

That's what you call prior warning.........
A hairpin bend 6 miles ahead. That's a strange sign.
Upt'North.
I expect it is just past the top of a long, steep downgrade, placed to give truckers ample warning to keep their speed down through engine braking. Two runaway ramps ahead of the critical turn are a definite hint that brakes alone are not to be relied on.

There are two run offs here. Two hairpins and a bunch of 30’s turns. Critters galore.

It is a warning to the drivers of large vehicles who might have difficulty negotiating the turns due to their length. In the picture you can see what looks like a road or a turn-around area leading off to the left. I presume that the sign was placed so far ahead and at this location because this spot would be the last opportunity for the driver of a large truck to turn off or turn around if they determined that carrying on would not be a good idea. Signs like this placed miles before the trouble spot are common in North America in areas where large or oversize trucks and campers could have difficulty navigating very small radius turns.

Great stuff following your trip. "Critters galore", could you elaborate? I'll be there in the next 30 days or so.
Yes, the silver fox here are huge and the mule deer are everywhere, including downtown pagosa. Its like they are looking for tourist trinkets. They go away mostly at sunup, and are everywhere until then. In the hills id be additionally cautious too
Saw mountain goats here last year. None this year.
