I am running VTR1000 cartridges in both forks so that the anti-dive mechanism is redundant. I would like to stop the caliper moving to close oil galley. It is a part that will eventually require servicing and I would prefer 100% of the brake caliper pressure to be on slowing the bike.

Has anybody done it? Is it is just a simple matter of swapping the anti-dive spring with a metal bushing?

Wow, I'm interested in how you did the VTR1000 cartridge conversion.
I did a long conversation at http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=8185.0

The bottom line was I found that Honda VTR 1000 Firestorm forks are very similar to the ST1100. The VTR forkcap, rod and cartridge will work with a ST1100 fork and spring. It is best to get a suspension expert to do the conversion as the ST1100 fork tubes are asymmetric (because of the damper rod and anti-dive) and the cartridge shimstack needs to be different (because of the weight).
