PS in South Africa we have a gent Named Des Pistorius who's done over 1 million kms on his 1980 GL1100 GOld wing....and he's also a nice fellow...must be something to do with the time spent on the bike...!!!

Wow - that is brilliant. 250,000 miles. That is roughly what you would cover riding non stop at 57mph for 12 hours a day every day for a whole year.
That is a lot of riding. And the bike looks like new.
