Given that BMW’s R1200GS and R1250GS have topped the list of best-selling bikes in the UK for years on end there’s a pretty good chance you own one or know someone who does – so it’s worth knowing that if all boxer GS models made from 2013 to early 2022 are due a revision to their driveshafts to prevent potential damage.

It’s not a recall. That would suggest a safety issue and put the onus on BMW to directly contact owners and arrange for the work to be done. Instead, the work is classed as a ‘technical enhancement’. For most riders, that means it will simply be carried out the next service if the bike falls into the range of machines impacted – numbering an astounding 440,000 worldwide, according to German magazine Motorrad.

Time will tell. Let's give them (BMW) a chance to correct it. If it needs further attention, then they will do it as in replacing the input shaft with a new part number. As for me I ain't getting bent out of shape because it is what it is. Either software update will fix or new update part. I had a do not drive recall on my new Toyota for 3 weeks because the electronic control module was defective, and they were 3 weeks behind on supplies on the new defective part.

I can't add the link it's on Bennets in the UK. If someone could oblige.
440,000 worldwide is quoted. No bull. They could be wrong of course but they are normally reliable.
If there's any BS it's not coming from me but there may be a wiff blowing across the pond my way.
I think valium should be prescribed to some on this site, and again that's not me.
Upt'North.
I don't have a valium emoji... I kept trying to add one but kept nodding off and waking up later only to forget what I was doing...

I think the number is adding up 1200 and 1250 GS/RT models from 2013 to current... maybe. That article is a bit broad..

The recall is apparently for 440,000 bikes. That's not a typo. But BMW are not calling it a recall......yet. That'll probably be after a fatality or two..
Apparently it's a corrosion issue.
You have confused the optional service action for adding a vent to the swingarm of some 440,000 2013 to 2021 GS models to the recent recall of 18,500 certain 1250 cc models for a software revision to prevent overstressing the transmission.
