Think your comments are spot on Dave. Honda's V bikes especially are known for a wide power range.
One of the comments made on the Faster DVD when Honda first introduced the RC211V was that the motor was so smooth it seemed like a "road bike".
But in the earlier parts of that DVD, when they were still riding the 500cc 2 strokes, listen to those guys talk about the power band of those things! omg, Rossi especially was errrr colorfully expressive
The power came on so strong and quickly it would make them almost unrideable.
The person who wrote this article seems to be expressing more personal opinion rather then an industry review. A lot of others in the industry, doing comparisons, seem to like it quite a bit.
