I decided to try something new, I have always wanted an adventure bike and I took one ride on the Triumph and I was in love with the engine, both sound and torque! I am liking the 3 mode traction control, switchable ABS, cruise control, heated grips, TPMS, So I got a 2013 Triumph Explorer XC ..... fast one in green! So far I like the bike and loving it the more I ride it! It has taken some time to get use to after having an ST for almost 100,000 miles. I did add some farkles with lights being the first one I added, with such a huge alternator I added all the lights I had! Boy do they make riding at night a pleasure! I also added the usual ones, Zumo, Radar, Spot, Lip windshield and the best one was Russell day long heated seat, I also added Trax bags. I have put on about 5500 miles since Sept 14th. I do wish the fuel tank was a little bigger, if you keep the revs down and run it under 75 mph gas mileage stays around 40-45mpg....when you get on it, which is alot more fun gas mileage stays around 33-35mpg. After 5500 miles, I have been having fun in the twisties, the dirt, around town or just slabbin it.......

Been wanting one too. But with the STeed and a 919 in the garage I need to make more room. I am undecided on what I want though, I am thinking about a dual sport but may lose some distance riding with one.

Congrats, another adventure bike in the house. Still love my Tiger 800 XC after 2 1/2 years. I feel so inadequate, I need more lights. Time to bring back ADV-owners.com:)

Dave, if you don't mind me asking, why did you pick this adv model?
I rode the BMW GS1200 and after riding the Triumph the motor sold me!! The BMW is nice I just liked the Triumph more! I also read the reviews and that was good too, I wanted a long distance bike too and with the shaft drive, cruise control and the torque....the torque! Wow I don't even have to down shift from 6th to pass someone.

Any chance you rode a scooter in your younger days? :D
LOL!!! That's a little overkill! I thought I had a lot of lights. Ha.

Lookin good Dave. Happy to hear your switch has been successful, despite the obligatory/occasional 'longing' for the 1100....
I doooo like the Explorer.
