engine running rough

Hi There fellow st1100 fans well here we go again just got the bike out for a ride and it sounded ruff.

Looked at all the spark plugs ok changed them anyway

I have now found that if I take the left front ht lead off it runs the same when you go to connect it again it fires from about 1/2 inch off put it on and miss fires again.

Changed ht leads off my other st1100 and the same thing happens ANY IDEAS Please ?

This firing system fires two plugs at the same time, if that helps your thought processes.

?? Are you stating it will only run good without skip holding wire 1/2 inch away.

If that is happening then the plug is fouled.

Not at all. Just don't open any of the carb drains. Page 5-18 in the Service Manual, IINM. Reattach the next time you have the carbs off.
