...... . they don't need a bunch of waypoints to select the streets.
So I just put enough in to 'force' the GPS to go the way that I want.
That is normal for satnavs. They only require the route points, and they calculate the route for themselves.

But Google Earth requires a route or a track to be plotted for it - so if MS Street & Trips doesn't plot one for you, you would need to find another way to get this fly feature from G earth.

Did you try the KML file that I attached to post #17 ?? Just for fun ?

I'll take a look at the MS offering - I've never seen it before.

John - MS quit making it in 2013 - but it was the easiest and best software for plotting routes.
The 'Google Fly' would be great if many of my 'existing' routes would have worked.
But unless I put a bunch of waypoints in (which I could do), it's just not going to work for me.
BTW, the 'European' version was called 'Autoroute' and it worked the same way for the UK and Europe.
