How thick is the meat on the pad? Not the whole pad just the part that wears away.

I bought some after market pads and they look too thick

Sorry I don't have a fresh set of pads.

Front or back?
iirc ebc being same for front or back means there back is thinner than oem but I don't know if they are thicker than the oem fronts.

Just picked up a set tonight.

For the front pads, part # 06455-MCS-G02 the friction material thickness is 4.08mm as measured with my vernier calipers. Same measurement from both pads. Turns out the backing metal plate has almost the identical thickness...

I measured my new 06455-MCS-G02 front brake pads in late December before I installed them--I bought the pads a couple years ago and had them on the shelf. Every one of the 4 pads had 3.5mm of friction material on them. Interesting that yours had more Scooter. :)

That's interesting BB. Just for grins I decided to check the second package and both of those pads also measured roughly 4.08mm also. I'm measuring the total thickness of the friction material including the "wear bar" portion which does seem to be about 0.5mm thick. So maybe that explains the difference between our measurements.

For future reference, the rear pads, Honda part # 06435-MCS-G02 measures 5.25mm and 5.20mm of friction material for both pads respectively.

BTW, crazykz picked up this sets of pads for me. Maybe he has more clout than the rest of us...

I did measure the wear bar portion as well, included in the 3.5mm on the OEM front pads.

The rear two pads (06435-MCS-G02) I just put on my bike had 5.1mm of friction material.

Seems like Honda (or crazykz?) thinks you need to slow down better, Scooter! :D

Those pads didn't fit too fat. Had to buy Galfer from local CycleGear

Local Honda dealer (Ha-Ha) didn't have OEM or non OEM.

The thick ones will fit the rear, won't they?

OEM rears are thicker than the fronts...

Did I repeat previously posted information..... it's been a long day....

Just an update since my new rear pads just arrived. Superceded by part number 06435-MCS-G03, measure about 5.4mm thick, with maybe .05mm variance between the two.
