heat problems continue

...I recall that one pipe was about 200 degrees F hotter than the others before sync and was brought back down to the same as the others by means of the sync.
Ok, pilots...help me think this through. When we are "leaning" at altitude, we watch the exhaust gas temp (think Cessna 172 and similar). Is this a factor on the ST. I am only 5 months into the world of the "ST" so the discussion of "syncing" is over my head.

It's a fine tuning procedure. You use a vacuum measuring device to adjust,if needed, the starter valves and throttle bodies so they're pulling the same amount of vacuum, which means all cyls. are equal. Usually #1 is not adjustable and the remaining cyls. are set to match the amount of vacuum it's pulling. It's not anything exclusive to the ST,the same procedure has been done on multi carb engines for years. Guys that didn't have vacuum gauges used to use small wire gauges to measure the opening of the butterflies on carbs with the throttle closed.
