Some of us were talking about this new Dunlop a week or so ago in another thread. It wasn't yet then on the Dunlop website so it must have just appeared.

I saw a magazine article recently about the tire and how Dunlop had the press launch at a racetrack the MCN video showed and let motojournalists compare it to the Michelin PR 2 and the Bridgestone 021 on the track and a road circuit. Dunlop is very confident this tire is the better of those three but I wonder why they did not include the Avon Storm in the comparison. Avons good.

Reportedly Dunlop was ready to release the Roadsmart some months ago but Michelin launched the PR 2's with independent test data showing the PR 2's the better tire so Dunlop continued working on the tire until they were confident the RS is a better tire than the PR 2. We are certainly are enjoying the results of better tire technology in the marketplace these days. Almost too many good choices....

I'm ready to tire-up. Had the 020's,021's no complaints, lower mileage on the 021's then I hoped for, but good in rain, good on dry........

Was thinking PR2's, but ........something NEW!......anybody see pricing on these?

I've been checking with my local Dealer who says the major distributors don't have the tire yet.

Statistically speaking I wonder how subjective this test was. Did the driver know what tire he was testing? I would think he at least knew who he was testing for and since they are signing his paycheck he may have pushed the tire a little harder.

When it is a double blind or at least a blind repetitive test it may hold some credence. Until then it is just advertisement.

Don't get me wrong I am not saying it is a bad tire. If it is running in the company of the other tires it can't be too bad, just possible bad testing data.

Its obviously not a structured statistical test but a subjective test based upon this one person's rides on a test track. Nothing statisical about it. Having said that I am sure that if he wants to continue to be paid by Dunlop, he'd better use all his experience to get it right because I am sure that all companies have the competitive intention to create the "best tire."

They don't call them DunFLOPS for nothing. I had two bikes with Dunlops on them when I got the bike. Could not get them off fast enough. I will not be looking at these when it is time for new tires. I just never liked the feel of the Dunlops. I like the PR's I have now, and am looking forward to the PR 2's. YMMV.

The British mag Bike did a blind test last year of a number of tires for street and dual purpose use. The rider was not allowed to see the tires on the bike. I'm sure a statistician could find fault with the methodology but at least it appeared that ad dollars had nothing to do with the outcome.

I've had good experience with Dunlops over thirty years of riding but my last OEM Dunlop 220 on my ST was a disappointment. Never felt like it had a solid bite on the road. In corners I could drift the back end around a lot with just a little extra throttle. Today I received a new Pilot Road 2 rear tire, I'm looking forward riding on it. Maybe later I'll try this new Dunlop RoadSmart after more real-world reviews come in.

The original Dunlaps that came on my bike gave me 5500 miles. I switched to Metzler Z6 in hopes of better milage, but not to be. The first set gave me 3300 miles, worn to the threads. The second set at 2400 miles and am hoping for maybe another 800 miles if im lucky.I called Avon to check on the Storms and after 20 minutes on line they admitted they are in the process of trying to get better milage out of them.(I appreciated them for being honest, and volunteering that I might be happier with the Conti-road sport.) I live near Deals Gap and ride most days to work, 15 miles on 28 north from Franklin if anyone is familiar, I know poor me.. I wore out this set in 2 1/2 months and Im despertly searching for a higher mileage tire. Has any one tried the Metzler 880 on front and back, I understand they make a size that will fit. I believe they are radials and not biased ply. Ive read in the past with members running them on rear and different tire on front.

Well I love the feel and handling of the Avon Storm but my last set only lasted 5,261 miles. I've ordered a set of the Dunlop StreetSmart's to see what they will do.
