I'd much rather have your R75 than ANY of the new ones....beautiful bike.
Had a R75/7 R90/6 R100RS, R65LS, and my favorite GS80 BASIC with blue frame (had lots of fun importing that one)
Maybe I'll have to find a used R90/6 to restore, maybe a set of euro bars and bags etc.

Yep. I'm trying to back out of them. I bought the R75/6 eight years ago as a basket case from the wife of a friend who passed away. I put a 1977 R100RS front end and tank on it along with a /7 seat and a monoshock handlebar master cylinder. The electrics were missing. I put a permanent magnet alternator and a crank fired electronic ignition on it. I sold it to another friend last year. I'll got a double lifetime supply of airhead spares. Time to sell them before I buy an old R75/5 and start over.

I've had the newer stuff and enjoy it as well. They all have their charm.



I sold the R1200GS this year and am concentrating at the moment on a couple of ST1100s and an old Volvo 240. The only BMW in the barn at this time is a K1100RS (in pieces).

The most pleasing motorcycles to my eye has always been the late /7 BMW's (particularly the orange or red ones) and the 67 Triumph Bonneville in Burgoyne and white. Great designs IMO

The most pleasing to my sensibilities though, were my 1977 KZ1000 Kawasaki, my 81 GS850G Suzuki and my 2014 Honda CB1100 Dlx. All great do it all motorcycles.

It's funny how so many of us had many of the same motorcycles. Here's a list of the street bikes I've owned and see many of these in the pics and descriptions of bike you guys have owned., like ST Gui's CB 750, Coops RD 350, W7AX-Lee's Triumph Bonneville. Yes bikes are much better now, as are cars, and airplanes and TV's, but many of the bikes we owned 30,40, 50 years ago were much better than the bikes that were made in previous decades. Oil tight, electric start, disc brakes, reliable electrics, all revelations to those of us who rode prior to 1968.

How many of these have you guys owned?

Yea, first off the Honda CB came out years before the Kawasaki Z900 (just like the originals lol). I ordered my 2013 CB1100 in November 2012, before it was even officially announced it was coming to the states, then upgraded to the CB Delux in 2014. Secondly I have some issues with the design on the Z900. The radiator (CB is air cooled), the urine cup front brake master cylinder, the mono shock, and the large gap between the rear tire and the rear fender. Other than that a beautiful bike that outruns the CB by a bunch if you are into the performance aspect of it. (I'm not, I ride my 146 hp FJR the same speeds I ran my 125 hp ST 1300 and my 88 HP CB 1100 ie: slow lol)

I had a 1973 Honda CB350 in college. I don't miss it, at all. I reminisce about the times riding and the places I went, but don't miss the bike. It didn't go well, didn't stop well and didn't handle well. What's to miss?

Yes, ignorance definitely was bliss because I did enjoy that bike, most of the time... it was better than walking. Later on after college, I bought a 1984 Ninja 900 that was in near perfect condition... it was literally in the guy's living room sitting next to his TV when I bought it. That one did go, stop and handle well, so I definitely miss it. I've not had that many bikes, but it's the one bike I wish I didn't sell.
