I've thought about using the windshield switch in a 1300 left pod for the CC on my 1100. Any reason that wouldn't work?

I remember reading that the 1300 4-way flasher doesn't play well with the 1100 signal wiring, but I can't figure out why.

The other option for using OEM Honda switches is a Goldwing right pod, but I'd rather put on a police right pod. Opinions?

If you have some amount of 'risers', I would install the police switch on the right and hunt up Reg's instructions for using 1-2-3 part of it for the cruise control. Then you could use switch 4 or 5 for your 4-way flashers (the wiring is pretty simple - just need some diodes to keep the sides separate).

I have lots of risers! Fully extended original Helibars on top of 3" straight riser mounts. Is there any reason the 1300 left pod wouldn't work the signals on an 1100?

I've compared wiring diagrams, and saw no difference in the signal wiring. And the windshield switch seems to be a SPDT switch, so it should operate a cruise control.

Well, I found a pristine police right-side switch pod for under $50 shipped, so I'm all set there for auxiliary lighting.

I know I can use the new right-pod switches for a CC, but with them on the left, either hand can control the throttle.

Question: What happens with the 'choke' cable if I fit a 1300 left pod onto the 1100? Have any of you relocated it?

Bump, please:

More:

I think someone here once mentioned that there is/was a police version of the left pod. What's different about it?

I found a pic of an ST1100 Police handlebar. The left pod appears to be a standard-issue 1100 pod. Perhaps the 1300 Police has a different pod than the standard 1300. Does anyone know?

I believe I have resolved my ROSTRA cruise issue. When I set the cruise, it would lock on to the speed for a short while then drop 7-10kmh then surge until it was well above my set speed and then try and settle in. I was about to order the McCruise but had to double check everything today before doing so.
I noticed the multi connector to the servo wasn't totally inserted. I rectified that, the response was a little bit better but it was still searching for the correct speed. In my reading of the McCruise installation manual, they discussed the magnets and how to install them making sure the polarity was the same. I thought I had done that, but apparently not!!! two of the magnets were facing negative while the other four were positive. I corrected the two and did a test ride. The cruise is running super smooth, stays within +/- 2km/h of the set speed. I've tested it up to 105 km/h. One more test, and at that's to test it on the slab to see if it will hold at 120 + km/h.

I'd suggest lying to the CC and change the pulses-per-mile settings. I'm trying to think whether higher or lower.

I did a recalculation on the circumference of the wheel and the number of pulses. I came up with 5300/mile. It was set at 4000, tomorrow I will try 6000.
It has to be something simple... cause it is super smooth and steady at 95 km/h

I will also check the gap between the sensor and magnets, I believe that can also impact the unit.

Thanks

If I remember correctly, the old cruise-control kits I installed (along with 8-track stereos) had a minimum-engagement-speed adjustment, and the max speed was three times that, such as 25 and 75 mph.

The Rostras have no such setting per se, but keep in mind that the automotive instructions call for only two magnets. You're using six, if I'm not mistaken, but a drive shaft does turn faster than an axle.

What's my point? I don't really know; just thinking aloud, what I'd try if it was me. If a higher setting doesn't work, try a lower one. Also thinking it may well be a throttle-cable travel or slack issue.
