All,

I've been trying to find a new PR4 120/70ZR-18 for my ST1300 front tire. Online everyone seems to be in back order. My local dealer wanted a $100 premium ($257) to get me a tire. Not sure what's going on. Does anyone have a good source for 18" PR4 tires? Is there a problem with the 18" tires?

Thanks in advance,

JohnConner

If you need one right now then I would go with a PR3 or another brand to get you buy for now.

Mine has been on back order since July (Dennis Kirk.) They said the vendor would be shipping near the end of Sept.

I agree, don't feed the gougers.

I'm not really hurting for a new tire today. Still have a few thousand left on my PR2. I changed the rear in April but have only put about 2,500 miles on the rear since. Just like to change both at the same time and the front was in short supply in April too. Wonder why?

This is probably an issue due to the fact that many European factories close for weeks in the summer...... production stops or is greatly reduced....

It was ALWAYS a problem when I worked at Michelin.... shortages always occurred in the summer during and after the closure period....

It wasn't just bike tyres, more heavy truck and others too.....

If a European manufacturer can't forecast for recurring events to sustain inventory levels they deserve to lose sales to manufacturers that understand how to.

PR3 fronts and the brand new at the time PR4s fronts were hard to find or out of stock last year in the fall. I canceled an order for Michelins that was 3 to 6 weeks back ordered and went back to Bridgestones and glad I did.

This thread seems to show up every couple of weeks.

Maybe we should have a sticky, "Expect the 120x70x18 PR4 GT to be on backorder".

If you don't need the tire right now, just order them and the front will ship within 2-4 weeks.

Why wait 2-4 weeks when you can get a great set of tires in the Bridgestone T30 GT for less that the price of a rear PR4

I think you meant to state, "why wait 2-4 weeks when you can get a great set of tires in the Pirelli Angel GT for much less that the price of PR4's" :D

NO I meant the Bridgestone T30 GT. I don't think the Angels will hold up on the ST, I think it's too heavy a bike for them they don't last onmuch lighter bikes.

You can get a set of the T30 GT's for under $190 with the $40 rebate from Bridgestone this month. I may order another set.

I'm not referring to the ST tire ... I'm referring to the new "A-spec GT" series, which is designed for large Sport Touring bikes.

Like Dave stated it's on the Bridgestone page. I got my tires from Jake Wilson in 2 days. I think they were $229.

I don't know what all the rant is about owning Michelins, as I never had them on my ST1300.
Dennis Kirk has the Bridgestone T30 GT's for $218.88 a pair - the $40 rebate = $178.88 for a set.
I currently use the Bridgestone BT023 GT's and these are their replacements.
Here is the rebate site.
