So sorry to hear. Lost my pop last November. It takes time, and the sense of missing him never goes away, but it does get less acute with time.

It was very helpful to get the support of those on this board, despite our never having met in person. Hope this helps you in that same way.

Sorry for your loss, at the sametime, it sounds like you had a great relationship with him! Prayers of comfort for you, your family and his friends!

Tim... I've been off forum for a week or more and just read this. So sorry. As you know, I've lost both my parents recently. It is a different experience. Coylene's dad is currently in hospice. None of it is easy.

Know that everything you've learned and taught is him living through you. I know you're an excellent family man, which is really the ultimate form of success for a dad, and the very best compliment you could ever give your father.

Man hug to you! Wish you lived closer...

Thank you so much everyone. What a forum and a great gathering of people on here, reaching out with their thoughts and sparking memories of their own fathers. Not even meeting many of you, you respond and make the load lighter and give hope for the future to feel better than it does now. Even though I am in the profession and have witnessed "the end of life on earth", it is never as hard as your own family or friends. After this week with arrangements being made, the service over this coming friday, the good memories can be shared and I am sure laughter will follow.

Thank you all and be safe out there. BTW, my ST and the many rides I have taken in the last few days sure help to clear the mind, and bring great memories. With saying that, we all need to get out and ride. :)

So very sorry for your loss. Lost my mom 29 years ago and seems like yesterday. You are so very right, life is short and take the time now as tomorrow is promised to no one. Prayers for you and your family.

So sorry for you loss cdnemguy.
My Dad is also gone so I know the feeling.
Also as you requested, gave my 93 year old mother a big hug on Mother's Day and told he how much I enjoy spending time with her.

Sorry to hear of your loss. My Dad had a head bleed and didn't last 24 hours. That was in 1966. Now you have memories to help you get by.

I'm so sorry to hear of your father's passing. It sounds like you have a lot of good memories to fall back on. Those will help ease the pain. That and the knowledge he didn't suffer long.

So sorry to hear about the lost of your dad, sounds like you two had some good times together and you will cherish those memories for years to come. Just keep thinking of all the good times you two had together and hopefully it will help a little to get through this difficult time.

I'm always hesitant to respond to these type of threads. They are such personal things. Not really sure what to say, other than sorry for your loss, and condolences to his loved ones and friends. I hope he lived a long, rich life.

Thanks! I am the same way and did read a few, responded rarely but now being on this side I see the way it can help to heal and brings our community together in a sense. All is ok, and after friday move forward with great memories. Riding and flying is my escape right now, actually it always has been.

Really feels odd to "Like" this kind of post.
I'm very sorry for your loss. I lost my dad in 2010. Despite my having 90 years to prepare for the eventual loss I was a basket case. He was, much like your dad the person who kindled the embers of my mechanical abilities. I still miss hm every day. He was a scout/sniper and dispatch rider in the war, 5 years on the front, never wounded so when I ride I ask him to protect me.
I really feel for your loss mate.
Best wishes,
David

Just saw this. I'm so sorry Tim. Our fathers help make us the men we are today, it's hard to lose them. Think of the good times and remember that he lives on through you (from The Lion King).

Thanks Dave, and everyone. We had the service yesterday, lots of chuckles, some tears, and glad it is behind us. Now good memories and I still chuckle everytime I do something that he would have done. I guess I am a chip off the old block as they say. I look forward to seeing you all again in 19 days!
