Is the blown in insulation more affordable than expanding foam? I see a lot of expanding foam used in the metal buildings here.

Bet you find a lot more motor-head friends, once word gets out. Or at least more visitors.
Where did you say you live, again?
Just a hop, skip, and 735 miles north of you.

The foam estimate was nearly double the cellulose cost. That could be offset as it can be the finished interior surface.
Pros and cons for both. Climatic region and building material plays into those.
We went with cellulose for price, bug resistance, and feel good about the environment at large. Takes about1/40th of the energy to produce than foam.
They said foam works well up north.
Down south, a wooden build can be eaten apart behind the foam. The foam itself is bug resistant.

I made cardboard cutouts to represent footprints for work benches, motorcycle lift, wardrobe, cabinets, pellet stove and a wooden mock-up for a bicycle stand. Easy to move around to see which arrangement works best.

Got in some spa time today.
Luan sheathing going in.
I had a neighbor kid helping.
Made my day. Usually “help” slows me down. Not this one.
When he left I had to come up with a way to continue putting panels up.
Good thing I have a handy dandy motorcycle/panel lift.

I rigged this on the table saw to cut 4x8 sheets by my self then found it really helped a lot even with a helper. 90A96D99-7B00-433D-B0FC-818C21D5F34C.jpeg

Between the Spa project and the work that I am doing in the barn, and my desire to use the table saw outside, and the desire to easily move it in and outside I came up with this rig.

The pellet stove went in yesterday.
Today I woke up to the sound of power tools. Yes! The door is on.

I make a little bit of progress when I can get away from a major project that I have going.
That project is shutting my bicycle store down.
My sweetheart retired, sort of, this year. She is working part time doing what she enjoys now without the monumental time doing medical charts.
I am following suite.
I’ll shed the stress of the business while continuing to service my best customers. I figure it will be 1/3 to 1/2 half the pay working less hours at about 1/10 the stress.

I even bought a bicycle carrier for the ST.

A big life improvement is getting to spend more time together with her and our pack of dogs.
At this point time is more valuable than more money.
I might even ride my bicycle more. Definitely in fact.
Taking after some old timer roll models here, esp @the Ferret I’ll go for a motorcycle ride about every day.

Having been financially reamed during an earlier domestic contract, I never expected to be sitting pretty like this. No doubt that I worked hard to get here but my wife gets the lion’s share the credit. She has worked hard and smart.
I sort of had some pride issues about income disparity. Sweetie’s friends made it clear that I brought something far better than money into her life.
Thank goodness I was smart enough to graciously accept that it is all good.

So I have managed to get a few hours in the spa here and there.
slatwall for a tool board went in today. This slatwall has a finished wood veneer. Feels more cozy than the laminate.
The cabinets went up over six weeks an hour here an hour there.
Tool cabinets are moving in.
Our dogs seem to approve as long as I give them some attention first.

It was unexpected that I would close the store when the new building idea came up. This place is going to be well appointed.

It's not too late to frame in a doorway on one side so when you pour another pad that size right next to it you can can connect them...
We are thinking we should have made it bigger. Yep. I’ll still play it frugal but I did figure out that there is a doorway already framed out for a 24’ expansion if it is appropriate.

Amazingly in the last scheduled week of business the business sold.
Over this past week or so I’ve had time to work on the spa.
I am using ikea cabinets and countertops from the bicycle shop.
One is lined with acoustic mat to hold the air compressor. Kind of like ear plugs, the volume is down some, importantly it takes the edge off.
The wardrobe sized for normal clothing could have been deeper, I made it so. It’s on wheels.
I rarely use the table saw. A pulley and winch set up gets it off of the floor.
I screwed three 2 drawer units together on wheels and topped them with a cabinet.
For the desk, I screwed the cheesy black top on top of the nice wood counter top. Using it as a template, I drilled through the assembly pin and dowel holes into the wood. Everything lined up perfectly with the base.
More to do this weekend adapting the newer style Sektion doors to the Akurum cabinets that I had.
Good times.
