I'm interested in this too, and which model, and do they really work (save you from tickets), etc.. thanks for addressing this (got a ticket in WY during this summer.. $$$... and it was on the 5% of the trip I did on interstate.. dang!)

There is a whole forum on the list dedicated to Radar detectors types and mounting places/procedures. Maybe some on the list with better search skills can post the link. I have a Valentine (a list favorite) mounted with a Turbo Tom right side mount. I get very few radar returns from speed traps, more from automatic doors etc. If you are going to run fast, make sure you have a "Rabbit" in front of you, helps with the instant on's radar. Given all this, I don't run over the speed limit very much...5-10 at most, to "Ole'. Dave B. Denver

that's what I'm thinking too.. it ain't worth it. on my trip, 95% of the 3k miles was on 2ndary roads, and sometimes I could see forever in any direction, the pavement was flawless, etc., and I was cruising along at 95 or so (felt safe given the circumstances) in a 55 zone. If I had gotten pinched there I'd probably still be there...

I got my ticket in WY during a 15 mile jaunt on the interstate before cutting over toward Yellowstone.. going 84 in a 75 zone. While it was a bummer (I was only speeding at THAT time, to get around a truck), I felt it was not so bad given I had been really over the limit the whole ride to that point..

anyway, trying to slow down - :)

I have used a Escort 8500 for 7 years, just as good as the V1 valentine just costs less.
Mounted in the top of my tank bag, wired into my autocom. no expensive brackets, cops do not know you have it. Laser does not work, but I see cops with laser guns before the detector goes off. (it is short range and bikes are hard to zero in on.) Kieth

Call me, we can talk about mounting, Ram mounts are the easiest if you want it external. Kieth 918-446-2245
