A lot would depend on what the Spine doctor had to fix, and how fast Igofar heals. Myself when stuff stops hurting ,time to start using it again ,but I take it easy for a while on any injury. Heal fast
Ok, I forgot about the open face helmet in high school, back when hitch hiking was acceptable I was picked up by a woman who did the arm out thing when she had to stop real fast. I also had a friend who had tire tracks on his early Bell. How he did not get his neck broke I don't know.
Things were certainly different back then, hindsight is still out there as I also remember bragging about how drunk and stoned we were when we made it back home.

Based on your comment you haven't reached the point in your life where hurt is just normal. And doing is just because things need to get done.
Almost there, parts of the body hurt that never got injured , weird thing some of the parts I hurt as a kid don’t hurt. At the age where everything cracks when moved.
