Re: Replacement for the Honda ST1300 in 2014? A short article with responses.

I know ! It's a Corolla...
When I was at the local motorcycle show in January, I went and lined up to sit on the new Trophy. When I told sales guy that I was an ST1300 owner, he said "You are about the 8th ST13 owner this morning to sit on this bike." I get the feeling that ST owners are getting tired of waiting.Since writing the article on the new model likely to be introduced to replace the ST1300 in 2014, Triumph has launched the Trophy SE. Triumph started working on the development of in 2007 and has clearly produced a state of the art sports tourer to compete with the BMW R1200 RT, ST1300, Concourse, and FJ1300.
Simon Warburton, Triumph Project Manager said, ?When we started we looked at the Pan European, the R1200RT and the FJ1300 because in 2007 those were the three best in the class. As we always do we evaluate them, work out what are the best bits of the best bikes, and try to beat them? (Two Wheels, January 2013, p.14).
Interestingly, Triumph decided to incorporate many of the features that I suggested should be incorporated in Honda?s upgrade of the ST1300. As well as this, Triumph obviously likes the styling of the ST since the Trophy looks a lot like the ST when viewed from the front.

I would say the ultimate ST bike would be the BMW RT1200 with the ST1300 engine/tranny and of course Honda reliability. The RT is a great bike but the boxer engine is too rough for me.If you took the innovations/power of the BMW K1600 and the reliability/endurance of the ST1300 and merged them together; you would have the perfect ride.
I would trade my NT700V for one of these. In the color Red of course. I am getting a bit bored with silver and gray. There is just such a thing out there but we lowly Americans are not worthy.
Honda Crossrunner
They would probably only sell 2 or 3 of them if they brought it stateside. George would be first on the list.
Upright ergos, proven, magnificent engine, suspension is good as per reviews, travel bags available, light, etc.
Foot pegs are in the wrong placeIt looks like this is the direction Honda will be going for a while for touring and sport-touring bikes. I guess the easy money nowadays is on the cruiser style bikes as opposed to sport-touring.
I think you should ride a VFR1200 to see what kind of engine it is....totally different than the VFR800 and has the power of the ST1300 when you goose it. I've ridden about a 1000 miles on one now (last two days) and I really like the engine (and the DCT...especially if you paddle shift instead of using the AutoTrans). Keep an open mind...and more importantly, try one before you make up your mind. Change can be difficult, but sometimes it can be better. What will happen with the ST, I guess we will have to wait and find out! Cheers from Duluth MNIf they do decide to discontinue the ST line and just modify the VFR, there will be many loyal ST owners who will respond by happily holding on to their existing bikes. I?ll look forward to continuing sharing the joys of ST riding with you folks , and bid farewell to those VFR bound...
You may be on to something here ... I wouldn't bet against you. Sounds like a plan.i think they'll kill the ST name and go with the vfr1200t which will have an msrp of 22k and have a range of 190 miles. if this get announced im going to scramble to find a leftover ST and snatch it up for 13.5k, lol
