Series vs Parallel Heated Suit Wiring- How Do I tell?

I found another pic to help explain. In this pic, presume the three resistors, R2, 3, and 4 are just two Rs, a pair of gloves or a pair of chaps. R1 is a vest or other single piece of clothing. Note that R1 and the set of series Rs are wired in parallel.

This one shows how voltages add (as the resistances combine to increase the total resistance to 1000 ohms) in a series circuit, while currents add (as the resistances combine to reduce the total resistance to 250 ohms) in a parallel circuit.

Series, series parallel, and parallel. Resistance in series is the sum of resistance. Resistance in parallel is less than the least resistance. A series circuit becomes an open circuit anytime a leg is broken. All other circuits contain a parallel segment.
