Okay,,, so time to 'fess up. About a month back,,, after a bit over 51 years on motorcycles,, I finally had a significant road incident. It has been quite an experience,, and one I hope to not repeat for another 51 years. I didn't mention anything earlier about it,,, out of respect for Waterloo Jay,,, and also my own badly bruised ego. Of course,,, I was both fairly well dressed,,, and a very lucky duck as well,, too kind of roll through the incident and nearly land on my feet. It seemed that BlueSTar got the worst of it,, but various sprains, strains and bruises,, have surfaced in the weeks that followed. But we are both receiving good treatment,,, and hope to make a strong recovery. That is,, replacement parts for BlueSTar are waiting at the border,, and I am tolerating physio well enough. But while doing homework for my insurance company,,, I came across a rockin' good deal on something I had been searching for. And almost exactly a week after my crash,,, ThunderSTruck, a very nicely appointed 2012 ST13abs rolled into my driveway. We have logged over 2500km's so far,,, and that is definitely helping my recovery.

But this post is about safety,,, and I want to show how well my gear has served me. Each piece helped,,,,,,, even the Harley boots !! Joe Rocket's armored mesh jacket was a standout,,, even though the elbow pads came out in chunks (new pads coming from Fortnine). I have always had trouble keeping knee armor in it's proper position. So recently,, I started wearing small motocross shin guards. Decent gloves,,, jacket,,, pants,,, and pads,, and boots, prevented me from picking up any road rash. Needless to say,,, I am still wearing this full kit,,, stay safe,,, CAt'

:( heal well, properly and promptly.

No need for the ego around these parts - we care. Good news on the 2012 though! :thumb:

I'm glad you are recovering quickly. It's funny how many aches and pains show up even after a minor auto accident. Your '12 looks fabulous, not only a smuggler aft, but covers for riding without the side cases? What a find!

Glad you're relatively ok... gotta like the ones you can walk away from.

Good catch on the new bike!

Thanks for the reassurances,, all ! Actually,,, the smuggler,, my Del's,,, and the side covers were all owned previously. And they were all on BlueSTar during the accident. And they all survived, without a scratch,,, thanks to the tip over rear bars provided by Red Dirt. ThunderSTruck will be getting the same protection. However,, ThunderSTruck did come with a nice oem tailbag,,, oem handwarmers,, and a fancy throttle lock. She is just broken in,,, at 70k km's,,, and has had a first valve shim inspection. However,,, the windscreen mech' needs attention (so I put a Laminar Lip on for now),,, and the 5-way needs cleaning. All things I am familiar with,,, cheers,, CAt'

Wow. Glad you came out of that relatively unscathed and that your recovery is progressing nicely.

Gee Cat, glad this pitchpole didn’t bust any of your rigging! Gear did it’s job and can be replaced. I hope you continue to heal well.

Ditto the gratitude, that you weren't seriously injured!
Ditto the good fortune of finding a stablemate.

Wow! Sorry to hear about your get-off. Glad you're ok, sort of

Excellent message about good gear. Any thoughts on wearing an air vest or jacket?

And congrats on the new wheels! Good score.
