Intermittent Misfire | ST1300 Related

I have a 2009 ST1300 owned from new. It is now showing 174,000 miles and has, this year, developed an intermittent misfire. It happens after I have spent some time, like more than 30 minutes, in heavy city traffic, stopping at junctions, moving slowly in heavy traffic, sitting at traffic lights...

yeah but, look where for the 710 cap, I just rebuilt an NSG370 transmission and I can't find my ST filler cap

As you sit on the bike, near your right shin, you will see a small panel in the large side fairing. Pop the panel off (held on by 1 pop rivet) then remove the silver HONDA engine cover (pull back then slide off). Underneath, you will see two spark plug wires and a black cap. Unscrew the cap and add oil. There is also a small circular glass window on the crankcase to verify oil level. Do you have an owner's manual? There is a guide in there as well.

Lift at the back of the silver Honda cover (there's a push-in clip) first, and then slide it forward (to disengage the tab in slot at the front) to free the engine cover. Then you will see the oil filler and all the plug wires.

My bad, it was in the general section ( ) and I mistakenly moved to the 1100 section ( ).. now in the 1300 section ( ). ... maybe instant coffee doesn't actually work ( ).

No problem, I can't even find the crank handle on my 1300.

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS open the fill hole before the Drain hole. This is especially true on the final drive pumpkin.
Many have drained the final only to crack/break or be unable to loosen the fill nut.

Excellent point. Also, its better to break the fill nut off and put black tape over the hole while waiting for a new valve adjustment cover to replace the original fill nut.
