I think about 6k rpm if I remember correctly. They made a very distinctive noise when you floored it for about 10 minutes on your way somewhere. Not the fastest, or the best handling, but they were great cars.
I added progressive HD springs, 10W oil, and quite a bit of preload and the forks are infinitely better.
I switched to 13.5" (factory ish) progressive HD shocks, and they are pretty darn stiff - a bit abrupt on frost heaves. But the bike's handling is much improved, no more scraping pegs.
You might look at Legend's for rear shocks... I have their 13" REVO-A's on my SGS, it's night vs day compared to OEM. It gives me an extra inch of travel, and I now have rebound adjustment, and it's easy to reach.
