Yup, some of you already know I recently got back into Miata ownership recently. I previously had a 2012 and decided to sell it, big mistake! ... I've since been keeping my eye on the market and waiting for another similar one to show up, the Stormy Blue ones are pretty rare, another reason I should have kept it... but, I did find another 2012 low mileage one in Alabama and was able to negotiate a price low enough for me to also ship it back to TX and add a few goodies to bring it up to what most are being sold as-is.

Many here have a Miata aka MX-5 so let's see your Roadsters!

Replaced my 2018 GoldWing with the 2019 Red 124 Spider.

Nice... looked hard at the spiders but I had a specific budget to work with so it will be a few years until they get into my crosshairs but I always thought those should be what the newest version of the Miata should have looked like. Not that the current one is bad, not at all, it looks great too.

Your blue Miata had a hard top, did it not? Is that an option for your new red one? Did you prefer the hard top to the rag top?

They are basically identical cars. The previous owner of the red one parked it outside and used a car cover so it had lots of scratches and needed a ton of cleaning. The blue one was in better shape but whomever drove it before must have followed a gravel truck on the way to work every day given all the rock chips.

But yes, PRHT - Powered Retractible Hard Top. I like the security of being able to not worry about a softtop being slashed, not that you can't break a window but I just prefer it.

Well, I'm jealous. That's a sweet ride. I didn't act quick enough on a 30k mile 2008 owned by the proverbial older couple earlier this year and have regretted it.

This guy lives down the road from me. Yes, it is truly insane. As in, 1000hp, insane. He's a technical welder that works on nuclear submarines, and his fabrication skills are excellent. When he said he built it, he's not exaggerating.

Yeah, there are a few v8 swaps, the engine they use is apparently similar weight as the oem 2.0L 4 cylinder that comes in the car.

It's cool but kinda defeats the whole 'more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow' saying.

There are many that go with a Turbo or supercharger add-on or preferred 2.5 L engine swap to get anywhere from 200hp to over 300hp. If my engine ever fails for some reason I may go for a 2.5L swap but not sure... those that do, love it and can't believe the power.. and it's fairly affordable at around 4k installed. Many of those guys also use the car as a track or autocross car.

I've seen a online posts about guys putting a HiPo 351 V-8 engine in Miatas and that's all well and good for people who like that.

I know nothing of this car other than the looks but it should be able to make it a very brisk machine without a monster motor or even a mouse motor. What kind of performance would somebody get with a 2.5L (~153cid)?

My 3.0L 200HP/200fp 3350 American car goes as fast as I'll ever need to go but not nearly as quickly as I'd like.

If I get another car it wouldn't have to be especially fast as in an electric Corvette or Mustang but it would have to be quick (but not Tesla P85/100 quick). Maybe ST quick. :D You know- to safely merge onto highways.

I haven't really looked into it myself. The stock engine is fun enough for me. But, I think I've seen 200+hp which doesn't sound like that much but it's around 15%-20% improvement everywhere.

Those with Turbos and Superchargers are spinning tires in 3rd gear so tend to need wider tires.

Having cut my driving teeth in a 1968 MG roadster the appeal of the NAs and NBs to me is Japanese reliability in a good handling light car. With my 150 lbs in the driver's seat the car is so balanced it seems like it rotates around the shift knob, and yes, I've rotated it around the shift knob a few times.
