Hello everyone,
I have made a modification to my Pan, something which stemmed from a mod I did to my previous bike. For those of us who can often forget to cancel the indicators at times and to the rest of the world following behind wondering just what the hell are you doing, making yourself look like a complete novice....enough said!
I obtained from the online auction site we all love to browse on, a pair of 12v warning buzzers. Not at all expensive for what they achieve and the safety aspect of this is so evident. They can still be heard at 70 mph and whats more important is the fact that they grab attention around the town especially when there are loads of pedestrians around that quite often don't look before stepping across the road.
The buzzers are installed to each indicator wiring loom, either by the quick clip type of connector that clamps onto existing wiring or like I chose to do, baring each wire of the buzzer and feeding it into the orange connector of the indicator loom and clipping the connector back together. The friction of the tiny metal plates will hold the wire in place with no need to solder.
Each buzzer can be placed onto the back of the black mirror mount by either sticky pads or with hot glue and all is concealed by the mirror housing. With all this in place the sound is not obscured heavily and as stated before the buzzers can be heard when travelling at speed reminding you that the indicators are on.
You do get used to the sound after a short while and ever since I did mine I feel a lot more comfortable around town as when I am showing intentions to turn, people do look to see where the noise is coming from.
Attached are close ups of the buzzer and also a video of the indicators and sound in action.
Thanks for reading, safe riding.
