Years ago i ordered a CalSci for a previous ST and a beautifully storage bagged w/cleaner bottle, crystal clear, and scratch free amazing screen arrived at my door. Fast forward to last week...ordered a Medium Wide and a saran wrapped, plastic bagged, scratched up, poorly cut screen with no bottle of cleaner that looks to be a prototype shows up. Is this the new norm? I would email them first but a "family" company even letting something like this out the door will end up an email battle not worth undertaking. $218 down the drain. Should have went with the Clearview :(

I really think you should call them. Mark Lawrence is a good guy and has given me good service twice in the past. Mistakes happen. Before you badmouth him you owe him a chance to right the screwup. Talk to him directly - skip the email.

I would strongly agree with this. Stuff happens. WhiIe I have no dispute with the lack of quality of that screen, how the supplier handles it is of equal importance. At least let him have the option to make it right and in the process it may highlight issues that he can improve on going forward

I'm glad that you had a good experience with him. I was considering ordering one of his products, but I had a couple of questions to ask before I spent the money. It took several business days to even get a response from him, and he was curt and rude in his response, as though I was an idiot for even asking. He was also dismissive and insulting about the products I had on my bike. I found his behavior distasteful enough that I decided to not do business with him.

I hope that his post-sale attitude with an existing customer is a better experience.

Normally im the nicest guy in the world, but putting this crap item in a clear bag and then putting it into a shipping box and sending it out is hardly a mistake. A simple..nice email was just sent to him, will eat the restock fee and ship it back.....lets see how this goes.

I could see the restock fee if you cancel without giving him a chance to set it right. I hope he sees it is not right though and gives you a full refund.
Let us know.
Seemed customer oriented when I’ve talked with him.

I had a fantastic customer service when they were in California and I was coming through town on a road trip. The owner gave me a tour of his shop helped my put on my windscreen right there in his parking lot and when it didn't work because of some lights I had added, he took it in back and custom cut it to fit, and helped me put it back on the bike. I hope this hasn't changed and that you get what you need to make things right. I'm close to needing another one so I'll be watching to see how things turn out.

I'm not a Calsci windshield fan at all, given my FJR experience. Windshield came with very sharp edges (unsafe, they don't sand or flame them to save money), and didn't seem to care about my concern, obviously they are still too cheap to finish the edges. Windshield is intentionally overbent and outer lower corners (again sharp) contact the fairing (they tell you it will) and wear paint off at points of contact. Their answer, they include two pieces of 3m-like clear plastic film to put on your fairing. I'd never buy another one.
I cut myself taking it out of the packaging, I sanded my edges with 220 and 400 sandpaper, but those notches..... terrible.
The one you have, send it back, insist on a refund, or at minimum ask for a replacement... holes are in the wrong place and edges are crap. Looks like the laser machine has a problem and they don't look at the outgoing product. If you can get a refund, go buy something else.

"lights you added"?? Please don't tell me you mounted lights up around the windscreen.

I know there are clearance issues between Cal Sci windshields and over mirror light bracket set ups.
I never liked the look but for ultimate down the road lighting it is the best way to go.

Oh, I dunno ... I find the lights on my 'Wing superior to other setups... and they're low

I've never bought one of their shields but a friend of mine with an FJR bought one from them and had similar observations. To my eyes the edges didn't seem finished.

No email response so far, so this will be an interesting phone call. Im betting ill have to contact my credit card to file a dispute.

I hope you can get some satisfaction. Reading your experience here is the complete opposite of mine with Clearview.

I called Clearview to order my windshield an had a nice conversation with the owner, Craig. He explained the different features/options available, the timeline for delivery, and helped me choose the shield that met my needs. He followed up my order with emails informing me of the progress and when the shield was shipped. The shield arrived in a large box, stuffed with foam rubber filling and the shield was wrapped well to prevent damage. The finish of the shield met all my expectations.

I'm not affiliated with Clearview; just a satisfied customer that appreciates good customer service and a quality product. If CalSci doesn't make things right for you I'd recommend you check out Clearview.

I rode an FJR 1300 up to their shop, in early '19,
and got a
Touring shield, then installed it right on the spot.
I lived close enough-so riding up and seeing the
product quality first was a big +.
I had called ahead, and Mark was a big help.
Many miles later, Shield still fits very good,
and the material is high quality and
very strong.
Surprised at Ur experience.
They will make it right.
