Another new owner here. I found this forum when trying to pre-diagnose a clutch hydraulics problem with a '02 ST1100 I saw listed online for way too cheap... I took the gamble, bought the bike, and and I'm pretty sure I fixed it already!

This is my first "real" bike. I've been casually riding for 3 years on a '79 CB650 cafe/brat beater, at best 1500 mostly-urban miles a year, but no big trips yet. Like cars of that vintage, it is forever a project and always needs something. I'm looking forward to taking longer, more comfortable rides on the more modern ST.

Anyway, here's a few shots of the "best sport touring bike $2000 can buy!"

Good deal dude! I like mine, even though it is ugly and more ugly. I laugh when I ride it because it is so chill and yet I am still riding a motorcycle.

Hello everyone! My login is old but I'm new here. I (unwillingly) retired Dec 31 2015 and instantly stopped riding. Honestly, it was a bad case of retirement shock. My retirement riding mileage was 15 miles. I had 3 streetbikes, a Futura, Wee Strom and an R1100S. Sold all 3 and every motorcycle thing I had on one evening to the same guy.

I was committed to no more motorcycles. Retirement shock, it must have been a powder puff version of ptsd. I felt lousy about retirement all the time and after 7 years almost, I'm back in the game and very happy about it. As soon as I bought the bike a couple weeks ago I felt like myself again. Amazing that a motorcycle can do that for a person. The ST was the sixth time during retirement that I looked into buying a bike and all 6 times were different models, K1200RS (sideways 4 kind), ZZR1200, FJR, GL1800 (2005), R1200RT (hexhead), and the ST.

I made the mistake of pouring over this thread by Igofar Larry. It blew my mind!!! So this riding season is going to wrenching, low mileage testing and shakedown riding. I'm happy to be going over a bike in good condition. Come springtime I'm starting a big riding year.

The ST1300 is by far the choice that fits me best. The others were just confusion.

Hi everyone. Another newbie here. Hope this is in the right section?
Little bit of history about myself, probably like many on here I’ve had (and still have) sports bikes, but as I’m getting older, the shoulders and back are starting to ache. Also with my kids growing up my missus and I find we’re having some extra time together (not always a good thing lol)
After a few years of thinking about getting something big and comfy (and fast enough) for us both to get over to Spain on, I decided now was the time to get myself an ST1300. I’ve always liked them, and after taking one out I instantly loved it. Smooth, comfy, powerful and just old school cool! I’ve purchased an 07 with 25k on it. It’s obviously been looked after as it’s very clean, fasteners etc have no furring on them. Also has good s/h.
Anyway, just want to say hi to everybody and thanks for having me. Im sure there’s loads to learn from you guys and gals. Chris.

Looking forward to getting to know U'all as I figure out what this fine Japanese machine is all about. I was really excited when my neighbor agreed to let me use his snowmobile trailer. It pulled real easy behind my car and best part about it, the sidecar that comes with the ST1100 means it doesn't tip over when making attempts to climb the tilted trailer and get the perfect position!

Curious if anyone saw this machine 4 or more years ago and knows anything of it, evidently previous to previous owner is was in Wisconsin. Will be figuring out a front fender, but that's a sidecar question with the Unit fork. So far loving every minute of it, especially an appropriate amount of horses and torque to escort the sidecar down the road - previous sidecar for me was a Ural rig....not so much for horses.

Cheers from Minnesota!

Hello all! I bought a 2006 ST1300 from a good friend in North Carolina a couple weeks ago, and rode it home to Arizona last week. Our maiden voyage together was 2872 miles with zero moto problems. After getting home, I noticed I only have one working headlight. Hmmm, guess I should join an ST forum and find out what to do. Thanks for being here.

Hi. New member, sorta. I believe I was a member back around '06 or so when I bought a new ST, but I wasn't able to figure out my original account info. At any rate, I put lots of great miles on that bike. Fast forward many years and many bikes later and I'm back on an ST. Just picked up this very clean '07. Glad to be back, glad this site is still keeping these beasts running.

Hello everyone. Just want to introduce myself here. My name is Olivia, and I'm new to the St forum and biking. I'm planning to buy a 98 and plan on fixing it up after it has sat for a few years. I'm not new to forums like this, and I know the knowledge is priceless, so thank you everyone for sharing it. I sincerely hope that I will be able to contribute as time goes on. I'm a bit shy at first, so it may take some time for me to open up, but I adapt and improvise quickly. I'm looking forwards to the chats and rides (husby willing) and will be willing to assist in any way I can.

Hellooooo, my name is Terri and I live near Denver, CO.
I'm not the actual ST owner, my husband is (I'm a little too short). But, it's me that does the maintenance.
I have my own ride too, just not an ST.
