Just a quick one. After no less than nine back and forth with TFL, to whom I sent the COC kindly provided by Honda UK, - My 2004 ST-1300 has been declared ULEZ charge exempt.

TFL will push back, saying not Euro 3 on the COC. You need to point them to the NOx values on the COC, which meet and indeed exceed Euro 3, and they will cave in.

Their job is to make getting the rightful exemption as tricky as possible.

Perseverance and politeness is the key. Once you have pointed out the COC NOx value, they must give it.

There are others have been before you, so no reason for anyone to have doubts about their 1300. I'm toying with the idea of presenting my 1100 at a testing station to see how it does. Slightly more involved and not without cost, but a good selling point for the future?

Well done James.
I can't remember welcoming you aboard here, so welcome aboard from Northumberland.
A Northern Land where ULEZ is something you read about in the papers.
Upt.

Thanks for the Welcome. I have been seeing news articles where crews are disabling the ULEZ sensors. Every time gov't creates a new "scheme" a word so appropriate used often on your side of the pond. It's creates a new office or agency to extract another pound of flesh from the people who provided the labor for it.
Otherwise life is good.

Hi James

Does it cost to obtain a CoC from Honda UK?

Nope. Don’t recall the email address. Google is your friend. Sorry, on my mobile. Just ping them, they ask for the VIN, I think and then, almost by return the CoC that you can firmly insert with the V5 copy to TfL who will pushback until you point out the NOx details.

I wonder what would happen if ST owners around the world flooded them with requests for exemption?

Here you go, email address
Thanks James

I tried and contacted Honda UK and they directed me to complete a form which required me to pay Eur 175 for the privilege. They also indicated on the form that the CoC world have been issued when they bike was first registered and any subsequent request would be for a copy - hence the "admin cost".

I don't go into London much these days so the Eur175 would be quite a cost for likely very little use, if at all.

I will try and email the address you have given above and see whether I get better luck from them. I also have a gen 5 VFR 800 so if successful with the ST13 would give me a double win.

I can email you a copy if it helps?

It does look specific to my bike, however you could always edit the PDF....? ;)

I emailed "Customer ServiceUK" <customer.serviceuk@honda-eu.com> and there was no charge (was some time ago!!) - might be worth a try?

Thanks for sharing. At least I now know what to look out for.

I had a response from Honda UK to one of my application for a CoC - I made 2, one for the ST1300 and one for my VFR800Fi. The tree quote:

"We are sorry to inform that Honda we can't provide COC document for your vehicle as it has no WVTA. This means that your vehicle has not undergone European type approval through a WVTA (Whole Vehicle Type Approval) procedure. If you would still like to have it registered with DVLA, what we could provide is Year of manufacture letter.

In order to obtain Year of Manufacture details for your motorcycle, you will need to apply in writing to the following email address: info.UK.car@honda-eu.com

When requesting this document, please provide the following information:
• Model type
• VIN and approximate mileage or working hours
• Engine number
• Your postal details
• Your contact details – telephone number and email address."

I wrote back giving them the requested info but it looks like someone got out of the wrong bed this morning . Hopefully once they have the registration details they can provide a follow up.
