I'm sure some of you more seasoned riders remember Paregoric. I'm pretty sure it was sold over the counter until 1970 or so. It contained opium, and our Mom treated everything from coughs to diarrhea and bicycle crashes with it. Apparently it can still be had with one of those pesky prescriptions.
Child- "Mom, I have a sore xxxx."
Mother- "Go run around outside for a while, you'll feel better."
Child- "Dad, my tooth hurts."
Dad- "Put this between your check and gum and leave it there for a while."
(The this was a cotton swab soaked in whiskey.)
What did they do with large crying babies..................?
Anyways, remember Gripe Water. Another, all symptoms problem solver my mom used.
" The original brand of gripe water created by Woodward and one of the most popular brands of gripe water today, was originally a mixture of alcohol and sugar"
Get baby or toddler slightly loaded, he'll then go to sleep, and mom will be in Bliss..
