A few years back..... I worked for a data storage and CD library company for about six months.... this was before it was called NAS.....
I visited Leeds University who had a tape back up and recovery library that had more data tapes than I had ever seen in a tower storage system with a robotic picking arm that would fetch the tape and load it for a restore....
At that time NASA had the biggest back up system on the planet, or so I was told, that was I believe a one petabyte storage system.... it was apparently physically rather large....
Now I have two 256Gb micros SD cards for a dash cam and a camera..... and my laptop has a 1Tb SSD and 32GB memory.....
My first PC had 1Mb RAM and a 42MB HDD..... how things have moved on!
I still occasionally find a few floppy disks in a drawer..... no way to see what's on the things though!
